Small, reasonably priced studio monitors?

If I was going to buy new monitors I would definitely go with Neumann.

Adam T5V are awesome

AdamT5V has bass port at the back, it could be a problem in a small room. something to be aware of…

Wow, that’s very kind.

Prior to getting married, then having kids, I wouldn’t have batted an eyelash at dropping coin on my hobby. But age, responsibilities and life changes sneak up on you and give you perspective, don’t they? I’m just glad that for me it coincided with an increase in reasonably priced battery operated synths! Woo!

Eris E5 for me too. Sounded the best when compared to others in the shop.

Do be aware that the Yamaha HS series are rear ported and supposed to be used with quite a bit of space between them and the wall if you go this way. I enjoy my hs5s but I would have opted for the 7 if I were to do it again. I find the 5s to be a little lacking in low end unless you turn them up quite loud and I think that’s probably just to do with the size of them. When I get new monitors I’ll probably try something different but they absolutely aren’t a bad choice. This is probably worth a read if anyone’s thinking of hs5s

^ Good point, although I thought that they had a switch on the back to compensate?

Here is a review of the D5s that I have, it mentions the dsp correction and their excellent phase coherence, the headphone analogy that the author speaks of is not lost on me.

I have Equator D5’s too. While I have never owned any other monitors, the D5’s have been great from day 1. It’s a shame Equator seems to have gone out of business. I suppose there might be some D5’s / D8’s out there in the used market, but they’re probably hard to find. I don’t imagine a lot of owners are willing to part with them!

I second Genelecs… easy tonset up amd use, rubber feet great. You may need a sub but def quality gear

I’ve got a pair of Alpha 65 monitors too. They are a steal for how good they sound, really good bottom end. Great for general music listening as well as music production.

I have Alpha 80’s and love em, but sometimes kick myself for not going with 65’s. Then again, I could just treat my room a bit
These are terrific monitors. I still double check with Grado headphones, NS10’s and the car to be safe sometimes
