Hi all,
I run my Eurorack with a selection of synth voices / sound sources plus my Syntakt for drums into a Mackie 1202 mixer. I’m using the Mackie aux’es and Alt-Out for fx send-returns. The Mackie main out goes into my Motu M6 audio interface inputs 1&2.
Now I’d like to record my synths on a separate stereo input of my Motu than my Syntakt. (No Overbride, since combining OB and Motu seems to always give issues).
Solution would be to run my Syntakt into Motu inputs 3&4. But I like using the EQ of my mixer on the Syntakt, also mid-performances / one-takes that I’m recording. Especially the low-eq for sometimes cutting out lows during breaks etc.
What could be interesting small gear to run the Syntakt trough? I could get another small Mackie like a 402 or 802. Maybe another type of small mixer with great sound, like the Bebe Cherie. But maybe there exist stuff that would be a bit less superfluous, like a stereo pedal or something. Heat Mk1 could work, but I don’t think I would get that just for this simple use case. Maybe if I would be able to snatch up a cheap Mk1. Any other suggestions, that are maybe a bit less overkill?
(added: audio quality at least on par with the Mackie 1202VLZ4. Any additional sound sculpting beyond low/high shelf EQ are nice but not essential.)

i’d replace the mixer with a bigger one with groups/postfader direct outs

Hey! Yeah that sounds logical.
But I’d like to keep things more similar to my usual Mackie1202 setup, since I use it also live/jamming away from home.
Doesn’t the 1202 have a control-room out too? You might route that differently to the main out. Unless you’re using it already.
Yeah it has a control room / Alt out that you engage with the mute button, which is great, but I’m using it as aux send already. I don’t always use it though, so it’s my best option currently indeed.

Assuming you want stereo, there are not many options in the pedal world.
The Empress EQ is great, but mono. A second small mixer is probably the best/cheapest option.

I would actually like to get one at some point, it’s supposed to sound very good. Do you have one? (But indeed: need stereo in this case)
wondering if the Zoia effectively has these algorithms in stereo?
The Boss mentioned by @d4ydream is probably the more affordable but will add the Source Audio EQ2 (no experience with but reception to this Source Audio line seems positive) and perhaps overkill but similarly priced, with other useful functions, the Endorphin.es Golden Master - really enjoying mine.
So much cool stuff that’s mono only! I have limited space and just ordered a LEP Lumamix ‘Resonant Mixer’ for submixing: mono but what a cool wee thing.

What about a DJ mixer? I’ve been considering the A&H xone:23. It’s 2 channels of EQ with a great sounding filter and you can even feed in 2 sources per channel (line + phono or you mod it for line + line)
