Slice problem

Right now I can only play in Slicemode with my recorded and sliced sampe while a) the playback is stopped or b) while I’m in liverec mode.
When playback is running and I only wanna jam around without recording it I can’t play my slices…

Is this right or are there any wrong preferences in my case?

This has happened to me before too, sort of. Even though all the settings were right, the slices refused to show on the trig led’s and couldn’t be played live.
Sometimes everything came back to normal after powering down and restarting.
Just out of curiosity, were you switching between banks on this project with the problem?

I was switching to a new bank and everything works fine there. Still I cannot find any differences in settings. Weirdo…

Try placing a trigger in grid record mode on the offending track hit play, remove trigger and see if that solves it.
I have a suspicion about tracks/slots getting hung up on the old banks settings and not being updated until triggered in the new bank… This may or may not be the problem here.

I’ve never had a problem with this.

Just to be sure…

1. Have a Sample sliced on the Track.

2. Switch SLIC to ON in Playback Setup.

If either of these things aren’t done, Slices Mode isn’t on properly (ie The Slice Trigs aren’t lit.)

The slice locks are lighting up. Still during playback I cant play with them, only in live rec or pause mode…

Sorry but what exactly are you trying to do? So you have a sample that you sliced into like 12 (example) slices and you want to sequence different slices like 6 then 8 then 1 ? In one track?

I do have the same problem. I can only play the slices if the playback is stopped or if I am in grid recording mode. Can I somehow play the slices in slice mode while in simple playback mode?

had something like this too, then I realized that iwas trying to trigger recorder-slices (set to QPL of 16). And i was wondering why it takes so long to trigger.

So if its a Recorder, check your QPL settings in Recorder-menu. And also the Quantization settings of the sample (semple edit menu) if it is a regular sample.

That´s it. Sample was recorded with QPL enabled and so the sample had this attribute. When I change the sample attribute to instant, it works.

  1. If lit slice trigs are missing in SLICES mode

  2. and you think all SRC settings are correct for that specific sample belonging to the track

  3. and it seemed to happen spontaneously

I usually find a REBOOT of the Octatrack will fix the problem.

This is definitely a bug but difficult to replicate unless you remember what you did right before you noticed the problem.

I have discovered i have this problem too. I can noodle around on the lit sliced trigs when not recording. But when i hit record the green led trig lights disappear. Is the above the solution?
