I recently been given a SDS 8 from Simmons and I thought I’d make a topic about it to share some tips between other users, and people curious about this machine in the forum will be able to find some info about it.
To start I’d like to share an happy accident with you. If you send gates to the trigger input of the drums, the envelope actualy stay high as long as the gate is, so you can make drones, chords or weird noise phasing sounds using each voice almost as an oscillator. I’ll give this a watch. Always regretted not picking one of these up. I’ve seen a few here and there for a really good price more than once (this has been years ago now).
Yes it’s crazy how expensive they sell now ! I wouldn’t pay too much for this as it really need some FX to not sound HYPER 80’s (exept of course if that’s what you’re after)
I picked one of these up for cheap many years ago. Was super excited to get $400+ for it on reverb recently. Wasn’t satisfied with the way it sounded for actual drums. Great job getting some very cool sounds from it!
