Of course you can do it subtly, I deliberately made it very obvious in the audio I posted above, but you can get full on cheezy pumping effects with the filter.
A linear curve just doesn’t pump, it’s just a ramp.
Idk, I feel filter ducking is generally more pronounced than volume ducking, because it sweeps the low frequencies first and then goes up the spectrum.

Ive been playing with it today.
Definitely prefer the sound of an Exponential LFO curve over the filter env curve.

Fucked if I know what’s up with amp env retrigging and the varoous types of trigless wotsits and envelope trigger behaviour modes.

Basically I’ve found a way to make it do what I want, but its not what the manual states should be the way to do it.

Anyway. Using an LFO in envelope mode to filter = great way to carve out space for a kick drum.

Yeah, works really well. Unfortunately exponential lfo on amp volume causes audible clicks in some cases. Depends a bit on the material, it’s most obvious on low freq sounds due to the slow wave cycle and usually works well on high freq content and while the filter really sounds incredibly nice for ducking (imho), especially on basses, 303s etc. it takes up an fx slot. Introducing a bit of resonance can be nice and turning down wdth or turning up base can be cool for a transition or smt, but overall it takes up one slot just for ducking.
Turning down the lfo amount when you’re doing a transition and then ramping it even up more to make the effect more pronounced is also a nice trick.

Btw, what’s up with the amp env?

Pretty sure there are some still unresolved bugs around LFO and envelope behaviours - i.e actual behaviour vs what the manual states (and is expected due to terminology).

I am not able to access my OT at present, but the best thing to do is document the unexpected behaviour and post them in the bug thread and to support dept.

We have been told that bugs will continue to be fixed, so definitely worth reporting them.

Just had a look at the most recent OT manual, it says

SYNC TRIG will restart the LFO on track start, and also every time the pattern loops.

I’m pretty sure the “also every time the pattern loops” part has not been in older manuals.
It was something like “SYNC TRIG will restart the LFO on track start and it will then continue to run”
That would have meant we could reset the lfo at track start, but then make it drift.
But that also means sync trig has been working like intended, it was just not correctly described in earlier manuals.
So it seems the lfo side is working as intended.
That leaves the envelope and retrig behaviour. I’ll do some more test later and document the behaviour.

It retriggers when it shouldn’t.
Eg if trigless trig, and amp settings set to RTRG, amp envelope should not trigger at all. It does.

With Sync Trig the LFO is retriggered at each track loop since ages, scale per track or not. Btw I struggled with it and my conclusion was : on OT there is no way to trigger the lfo only once at the beginning of the pattern as on Digis (LFO.T parameter) and let it run…

Yeah, I know. Just found the 1.25 manual. It used to say:

SYNC TRIG will restart the LFO on track start. The LFO then plays continuously.

I thought the lfo was buggy, but turns out the manual was wrong or maybe just imprecise.
But yeah, that’s where my confusion comes from. I thought continuously means it won’t retrig with every loop.
Didn’t notice the manual was updated…
