I never liked the Analord stuff all that much.

I admit that I’m not a huge fan of a lot in that series either. However, the track I posted is right up my alley, love it.

point is, apparently a lot of people love some of his stuff and it is very old, the influx of new material hasn’t caused really good old stuff to get lost

Heh, no way will acid (in the sense as we understand it!) ever become commercial/mainstream, it is the anti-thesis of that, so any attempt to commercialise it will result in failure, because once you start adding in cheesy shit it is no longer acid, but just another tedious cheesefest with a 303 or clone in it, there have been lots of tracks like this in the past 20 odd years, and they are soon forgotten.

And, the TB3 in the hands of the average hipster nimrod is going to sound just as shit as it does in the Roland demos, over effected gutless shite.

Ministry of Sound will probably re-brand the term acid house, just like they did with deep house, electro, r&b, garage etc, but anyone who knows even a tiny bit about music genres won’t be fooled.

Loving Daren’s unbridled passion here for a beloved musical form…& I for one wholeheartedly agree. ‘acid’ isn’t even necessarily about that sound IMHO…it’s far deeper than that, it’s a style & a philosophy…

Maybe I’m biased, I was fortunate enough to be right in the thick of it when the acid house scene hit the UK, I am well aware it is easy for me to sound like some old git on a soapbox, but at the same time I’m not precious about it, I fully expect to hear some young kids getting hold of the Aira’s and doing some amazing tracks with them, and good luck to them. On the other hand there will be 1000 lame pretenders knocking out generic cheesy pap, same as with any other genre, but as always the good stuff tends to get noticed.

And as Xmit says I’d be the first to say a 303 is not essential for doing acid, personally I think it is more about the person than the gear, it is a philosophy and if you try to fake it, it will show, too many embellishments or try to get too musical/clever and you lost it, its about that raw stripped down groove that keeps you hooked, much like the best funk its all about the stank. IMHO. It came from the ghetto and it belongs in the ghetto, and like most of the best music was not about flashy gear and pristine recordings, fuck that noise

Great posts so far guys. @ Daren Ager… I actually bought your acid face EP a while back with the Summer in Detroit single… it gets regular play time on my commute.

Here’s a little ambient acid track made with the machinedrum and Analog FOUR. Every-time I play this I sort of regret selling the Analog FOUR… but onwards and upwards… I needed to take my music in a different direction as I was getting too comfortable with the acid sounds I crafted.

Just got into production outside the box and this one of my first little video-recordings of live production.

Went in for some acid-jam and this is what came out!

Korg EMX for drums, Korg R3 for Acid (sequenced via Maschine), A4 for chord stuff and a Eventide Space for some space.

Saw this on the elektron newsletter, so i’ll peddle some of my acidy wares.

Mainly on the harder acid techno end of the spectrum, almost always recorded drunkenly, so sloppy acid jam all the way, which can tend to go on while i get lost twiddling!

Normally xoxbox, octatrack, and tempest, some other outboard bits, and a little bit of the volca beats recently.
