@magmax303 send a message to this person :point_up_2: above, his website (which I won’t link but I’m sure you can find easily by looking at the username in google) has various skins for sale.

there is no A4 skin offered but perhaps he can make one for you.

n00b question here: How do you go about changing the knobs on the Elektron devices? Do you just pull the original ones out? I don’t want to start pulling on mine if that’s not the way to do it

this is how it’s done.

the electron encoder shaft is d shaped, if you get a new knob style make sure it works with d shaped shaft or has a small “set screw” so it will stay in place. but it’s simple. @Speldosa anyone with fingers can probably manage

Cool! Do you have any recommendations for where to shop for these, preferably within EU (or maybe they’re cheap enough to avoid extra import taxes anyway)?

you can order dj tools chroma caps(?) i think thats what they’re called, from cremacaffe but i don’t know if that’s the best price on them, I just know they are EU and sell them. if you google cremacafe elektron skins you can find them.

shipping on knobs should be cheap from wherever though. what colors or style are you looking for?

what gear are you planning on installing them on

My initial thought was to have metal knobs on my Syntakt and my Octatrack. Probably red for the Syntakt and gold for the Octatrack.

I’ve found some metal guitar knobs (with screws like you mentioned) on Amazon.

if you like metal you could do that, feels little uncomfortable to me but I’m sort of sensitive to those things. I feel like I get a better grip and a smoother turn with a softer more rubbery knob, if it works for you go for it. guitar knobs are often 1/4 inch shaft, might have a bit too much play in between the encoder and the knob. I have some guitar knobs I can try out real quick and I’ll let you know how it is. but either way you can get little brass sleeves that adapt a larger knob to a smaller shaft. I’ll try and find a link if you want.

Good to know. If you find a link, please send it my way.

Also, I don’t know if I’ll like the feel of metal or not. I just know that I think it looks cool :sunglasses:

for what it’s worth, the gentleman who posted the 80 pictures above also sells knobs on his site which should be easy to find given his username. If you like those metal knobs check it out.

sleeves various sizes:

I’ll update in a moment after I try the guitar knobs for size. I have some davies knobs I can try as well.

Davies knobs - fit, a little loose, would probably be ok if tightened. most likely just because of the D shape.

Guitar knobs made for smaller pot shafts don’t fit at all, guitar knobs made for 1/4" 6.35mm shafts fit about the same to davies knobs. little wobbly, look awful on a digi though but it’s just because I ony have spare witch hat knobs. Tested on some spare potentiometers and I think the looseness is from the D shape. better off with D shaped knobs if possible but the screw on will work if aligned.

in my small opinion nothing looks better than stock caps, nothing I’ve seen yet at least.

I don’t have any of those telecaster style knurled barrel knobs to try but you see what they look like above @Speldosa

it’s fine, I don’t mind doing something easy. don’t ask me to change your head gasket or anything though

there are also these 3d waves knobs on reverb, might be ok for a syntakt. can’t imagine what 3d printed knobs feel like though… hard is my first inclination.
