Short midi notes when in EXT mode in Ableton

Hi

I currently use the digitakt to (amongst other things) control various VSTs which I host in ableton.

Everything is fine and running as expected except for one issue;
The digitakt is the master and runs the midi clock. So DT is setup to transmit midi clock and Ableton to receive (sync in ON in Ableton Midi prefs for my Komplete Audio 6 sound card) and I can see that the DT is transmitting correctly as the indicator is flashing continually in Ableton to show this signal is hitting Ableton as it should.

I can now audition any of the patches in my VSTs and even change banks and progs thanks to the help I’ve had on here and everything sounds great.

However if I now activate the EXT button in Ableton (so that the DT can be the master as I need it to be) all I can audition now is short clicks of the actual sounds and not the actual patch as it should actually sound.

The thing is if I then play the pattern in the DT the problem goes away. Weird.

Thanks in advance

This has been an issue with Ableton Live ever since I can remember.
If EXT is checked, Live’s clock playhead has to be running for incoming midi notes to not get clipped.
