Shallow Water (Users/Uses)

Bought it to use with synths. Was very disappointed, sold it almost immediately. Maybe I should’ve given it more of a chance, but I was pretty sure soon on in it wasn’t right for me, despite some of the demos showing promise.

It’s easy to have high expectations of it watching the demos. And like you, I mainly wanted to use it on synths. However, I found it didn’t entirely fit with what wanted out of it.
It is perfect for guitar though. I spent hours picking away, using loads of reverb (mostly reverse). Using delay after the shallow water works especially well too. I had the mxr carbon copy on a long delay (extra dark).

I know this might cause some outrage, but I run the Rytm through it. Really helps gel the drums together.

Hey do you have a max patch for this or is it just m4l at the moment? Curious to see how you’ve made it!

Honestly can imagine this sounding really cool! All warmed up and glued like you say

As far as I know, you can open .amxd in standalone Max/MSP.

Hi thanks for your interest! Looking at the patch it’s a little embarrassing as it’s one of the very first things I made haha. If you have Max standalone but not M4L you can easily swap out the plug-in input/output to the adc/dac and it should work fine. I’d be happy to upload a version of that if you’d like.

It’s a great pedal. I had two for stereo processing but sold one of them bcs I can do that kind of processing one track at a time. I love the LPG and the way the LFO works. IMO it works best for mid freq sounds with some high freq textures.

I’ve also got the Deco and find them very different from eachother.

(with Digitone, not mine)

Finally gave in and ordered a second one for stereo fun… :grimacing:

How does that work? Do they each warp independently based on their own internal perturbations? Or is there a way to link them such that both channels work the same way at the same time?

Independently. Not sure that’s going to be that great or not really. But it’s something I’ve wanted to try since getting one. If it’s not worth it, you’ll find a shallow water in the sales section

Second one turned up… VERY quick and dirty test - Moog Matriarch, bit of Quadraverb on a send - Loops without the Shallow water, then turn the SW on (sorry for the pops), then off and back on again. Roughly the same settings on both, just a little less “Damp” one one and a slightly slower “rate”. I’d not sat and set the LPG, it was just how I’d last left it…

I like it personally. Really changes the stereo field. Worth another £220? don’t know.

Yeah! That’s real nice. Not as distracting as I was worried it might be in my head.

Hi, just had a few minutes with the shallow water and a dynamic sequence on my prophet 10.
Though I believe it sounded nice, I replicated the LPG thing on my analog heat with my fingers in the nose.

Do you know the the approximate bass rolloff frequency on the SW?

I use the SW on drum and I like the way it takes off the lowest freqencies and leaves that space for the bass to occupy the very bottom of the mix (without having to rely on post-production flitering).
