Sfx60+ plus drive not showing up

recently got a monomachine mk2 sfx60+ and i love it, however the plus drive doesnt seem to be working. it doesn’t show up either on the startup screen or the screen where you’re meant to change snapshots etc. does anyone know what might be the cause?

Probably it doesn’t have it installed.

+Drive was introduced by elektron many years after monomachine’s sfx60+ launch. (maybe not, check post below. My MNM says sfx60+ below the screen but did not have +drive, hence my confusion)

Opening it and checking yourself for the component isn’t that complicated, so you could try that.

This is how it looks:

This is not entirely true. The model was originally named SFX60 (without the + at the end). From the factory, the SFX60+ models were only available in the MKII version. As part of the post-sales service, Elektron offered to install +drive in any version of the MNM: SFX60 MKI MKI SFX6, SFX60 MKII.

But thanks for mentioning the installation instructions for our aftermarket +drives, I appreciate it

First of all, pay attention to the sticker on the bottom of your Monomachine. If you don’t see a “+” there after the SFX60, then there is a small chance that it doesn’t have a +drive, and you only have replaced glass (as far as I know, glass without a “+” is no longer available). However, you can only find out for sure after you open the MNM.

If you see a “+” in the model name on the sticker, you really should try to open your MNM to find out if there really is a +drive. If it is in place, try reconnecting it. If that doesn’t help and you have another MNM/MD, you can try installing +drive there to test its functionality. If none of this helps, your +drive is faulty.

We have been selling aftermarket +drives for about a year now, so if none of the above helps, write to me, we still have some quantity at the old price ($210 + $50-55 worldwide shipping).

If you confirm that there is a +Drive physically installed but it’s not showing up and there’s no burnt electronics smell or anything else as a warning sign to stop now, then I’d probably run the startup self diagnostic test to check for errors and then go ahead and reinstall the firmware.

Even if it doesn’t fix the issue, it can’t harm anything to try reloading the firmware.

I suspect that the +Drive is not installed in this unit though. It may have had a replacement display bezel installed at some point (as indicated above), or it may have been harvested by a prior owner. Hope that’s not the case for yours, although some options for replacement do now exist.

Good luck

yeah the bottom just says sfx60 and not sfx60+ that’s probably why, i guess i’ll have to order a drive at some point, thank you!

It’s a pity that there really doesn’t seem to be a +drive in your MNM (although I would try to open it to find out for sure), but I’m glad that we were apparently able to figure it out. I wish you true creative madness with your new MNM!
