Okay, so I have recently acquired a Microbrute. I have a decent understanding of CV and how to set it up on the A4. I was able to set up CV A/B and gate/pitch MB great. They played well together in that config. Then I switched the gate and pitch control to C/D via the FX track and some LFO/ENV control to A/B from the CV track. Played well together by my understanding of what was happening got a little slippery. So, if I switch pitch and gate control to C/D on the FX channel do I mostly sequence from FX channel? Is that the best way to set it up. Say I want to control the gate and pitch of the MB and also control other CV available options such ENV control of the PWM and LFO modulate the filter. What is the best way to set that up? Do I do the LFO and ENV from the CV track or the FX track and the pitch and gate control from the other?
doesn’t matter what socket pair you send gate/pitch from
…
but i’d stick with sequencing pitch/gate from the fx track (i use A/B, tip as gate)
…
the cv track has extra env modulators (more useful on spare non gate/pitch pair), set as value-lin and
be sure to set from -5v to 5v for most (bipolar) cv gear (send to C/D)
do not send voltages to any gear you do not check as compatible/safe first !!!
change the c/d voltage range to get ‘clipped’ monopolar lfo’s
[edit] my bad, not happening here, bipolar stays bipolar and the range is offset
clock/trig are fun modulators too
right. that makes sense. thanks!
Man, those two machines are locked in pretty tight. Sounding good, with all 4 cv channels hooked in. Some minor tuning issues, but I think I have them worked out. So here is a question. Do I save the set up on the fx and cv channels as tracks or as a kit?
BTW the MB sounds so great run through the A4.
kit for the ‘connections’ < [CV settings are stored per project , one of four slots]
track for the ‘control voltages’
i fancy the microbrute too - not out yet though
triggering the mb sequencer by Trig pulses would be fun
you can ‘advance’ the mb seq by hitting rest too !
Kit for the connections and settings specific to the A4 to MB interface such a slight deviation from 1 v/Oc? Track for saving “LFO” depth and what not?
sounds right if you are sequencing/varying the modulation stuff, however, you can load a kit with lfo/env cv destinations already active, best try it - deviation doesn’t sound good though !
To my understanding saving as kit is enough, as within a kit you already save all the tracks in it…
Please correct me if I am wrong
fair correction, to the essence of the question:
tracks are the musical layer subsets of a pattern - kits are the band, track settings are part of kits, but not the variable/changing musical aspects which are part of patterns/tracks
tracks are implicitly parts of patterns so i should’ve said above …
project slots for the ‘connections’ (one of four per project)
patterns for getting creative (sequencing) with the ‘control voltages’
each project slot will save the configuration and routing starting points
so you can do plenty without sequencing tracks by just varying those cv track settings
