For me, the Dreadbox Oscillators and Filters are also legends. Vermona too.
Oh ok I see, yes I agree with you.
They all sound incredible, but the Prophet 6 here sounds particularly magnificent.
I got the Trigon 6 and to my ears sounds kind of stiff. In contrast my Take 5 is so pleasing.
Any opinions on this matter?
Thanks!
Could you provide some sound examples? No clue what you are actually comparing. Theoretically, Trigon 6 is sonically more flexible than Take 5. Perhaps it is easier for you to dial in the Take 5 than the Trigon 6.
It’s not about that…
The oscillators seem to sing more on the Take 5. Harmonically somehow.
On the Trigon they seem stiff, sharper… not too musical.
Hard to describe or feel except if u r next to them.
Maybe others noticed too.
Moog style filter in Trigon-6 is much ‘sharper’ then ‘Prophet’-like which is in Take 5. (even if both are 24db). Try to switch filter to 12db in Trigon-6 to have a HUGE difference.
I did… I think it s the oscillators that are sharp and kind of still… like a sampled sound if it.makes sense.
I think mine is very warm, maybe post some audio of what you’re hearing and comparing it to
did you modulate vco? add some slop? and don’t overdo the oscillator volume
I love this about the Trigon and wished the 3rd Wave had this sort of responsiveness (or lack thereof).
The T6 is very Moog whereas the P5/P6/P10 work like Prophets, obviously. People go to Sequential to get Prophet-like things and, conversely, people who know how to make the most of 3 osc and a ladder filter are not usually looking at Sequential synths.
Either this take or the blonde side cheeks. What’chall got against blondes, bruh? ![]()
Not gonna lie, I looked at options for replacing mine. Ultimately I decided to sit on it a while and they’ve grown on me. But yeah. They’re quite… distinctive. Maybe even distinguished? I guess time will tell.
I never took an issue with it. But it gives off innocent, yet menacing vibes.
We have a couple pieces of gear in common. ![]()
Fantastic description of the box, overall. They should engrave this on the Trigon somewhere ![]()
has anyone done a back to back between the Sequential Trigon-6 and Moog Muse? Just curious as which sounds better and has better user interface/features.
thanks and I am leaning toward the Prophet 6
It is hard to beat for a do anything synth… I have had mine for ten years and I still have not found anything better… lol
I borrowed one for a week doing a session at Real World and absolutely agree. A fabulous thing that had never been on my radar before. Would have liked patch names though as remembering where I put anything was pretty hard.
