Sequencing a Waldorf Blofeld? Noob MIDI question

I don’t have the Blofeld anymore but I remember I could change banks. There is another thread about it.
Did you installed latest Blo firmware?

SS1:

I have set CC2 on the OT to the ‘Bank’ option, and matched the number with the patch number shown on the Blofeld’s screen (e.g. Vince C. patch = A010, so I enter ‘10’).

Setting CC2 to Bank Select will not do what you want.

What you need is to set the value of PROG in the MIDI NOTE SETUP menu.

If you want to change bank as well as program on the Blofeld, we should check that you can change program first.

Precisions : you need to change parts if you want to use several Prog Changes.

IIRC, when stopped, double stop sends the Program Change. Usefull for tests, otherwise it is sent only once.

Thanks for this @PeterHanes. PROG CH is set to send in the MIDI SYNC menu (Project > MIDI > SYNC). I can’t see PROG as an option in the MIDI SETUP page (when double clicking CTRL 1 or CTRL 2 in the MIDI menu of a Track.

Any advice welcome.

BANK sends a CC0 message with the value you set here, if you set a PROGram Change.

SS1:

This setting is more usefull for pattern changes, with machines using that features.
No bank changes.

Perfect, it’s worked thank you! Sorry for misunderstanding which menu I was supposed to be looking in. The PROG number doesn’t seem to correspond precisely to the Blofeld (for example, patch 57 is accessed by selecting ‘56’), but that’s not really a problem.

Waldorf counts from 1, not from 0. They would call him Sezare57.

Hey guys, sorry to bother you again with quite a basic question, but I can’t seem to find an answer in either manual or on here. I suspect the answer is no, but worth an ask anyway: if I am using the OT to sequence the Blofeld and have a lead, for example, on MIDI Track 1, and a bassline on MIDI Track 2, can they simultaneously use different patches from the Blofeld?

If not, I guess I can just sample/record in the respective parts, but thought I’d ask in case there’s something I’m missing here.

I think I’m right having asked a similar qn that the blofeld needs to be multitimbral. The spec sheet says it is 16 voice multitimbral, so the answer should be yes…

Cool guide from Sezare - other factors come into it too - comb filter really eats up polyphony (or maybe it eats up cpu - same outcome)

If I remember right, I think there are some FX restrictions too. Have feld, never use multimode.

If you can figure out how to use the OT, Blofeld multimode will be a breeze! The interface doesn’t seem intuitive at first but once you get the hang of it you’ll be fine.
This person’s tutorials on the Blofeld are great, here’s the one about programming Multi-mode:
