I sold my buddy on the idea of getting a Digitakt- so I want him to get the most out of it.
He’s been able to sequence his other gear, but has run into issues trying to sequence the Poly-D with the Digitakt. He’s basically come to the conclusion that the Midi In port on the synth is just useless(which seems bizarre to me)
Any elektronauts have any experience with it to confirm or deny this claim?

That would be kinda strange…
From the quick start guide pdf:
MIDI IN - this 5-pin DIN jack receives MIDI data from an external source. This will commonly be a MIDI keyboard, an external hardware sequencer, a computer equipped with a MIDI interface, etc.
It also seems you need the synth tool software (or sysex) to change the midi channel, but it should respond to midi like you would expect.

Right. I can’t imagine they’d be fine just letting this error ride. Midi in not working is a pretty big deal.
I’ll forward this to my friend. Thank you

Not sure how his synth works and how it is set up, but has he made sure the synth is in the right midi channel the digitakt is sending data to?

I’ve tried to tell him to try every channel- I don’t know the default channel the synth is set to

The quick start guide is just a few pages, but it seems that there is no setting other than midi channel that could interfere with incoming midi.
Ofc the midi socket could be broken…
From the synth tool software it’s also possible to do a factory reset, so if he can’t get it to work, maybe worth a try?
Sequences can be backupped over synth tool, I guess. Not sure, though and the quick start guide doesn’t say if a reset deletes sequencer memory.

Default is midi channel 1. Info is sorta hidden in the sysex chart…
