Hi all,

I have been struggling to send soundpack to my A4 using windows 7 & C6. But i cant make it works which is really frustrating:(

Here is what i do :

  1. on the A4 i got to the global/sysex dump/sysex receive/+drive sound menu. I choose Bank D, and I get a “waiting data” message.
  2. My PC (windows 7) is linked through USB to the A4
  3. On C6 the midi out is set to “elektron analog 4”. I load a sysx file from the drum vol 1 soundpack. When I send it, nothing happens , the A4 still display “waiting data’”, and my bank D is still empty.
  4. If I choose the pool instead of the +drive, the A4 displays “received sound 1,2,3,…”. But then If i go to the pool using the sound browser I still dont see any sound ???

I dont know what im missing. I have read the manual, tried to used a midi interface instead of the USB cable, checked that the midi connection is properly working, tried to plug the A4 before or afer running C6,… and many other things. But I still dont understand what is the problem!

If someone could explain me what im doing wrong, I would be forever grateful : )

Check that your A4 midi config is setup as “USB” or “USB+MIDI” for transmissions.

Thank you for your help !
I actually checked that the midi config is USB+MIDI for transmission, and that the midi connection is properly working using a DAW.

I have the feeling that when I choose to receive the sound on the pool, they are transmitted to the A4 (i get a “received sound X”) but when I look at the pool it is still empty

I’ve never transferred directly to the pool, so I’m not sure what normal behavior is, but when going to the +drive, it will say “waiting for data” indefinitely- the message does not change once the transmission has been completed.

Are you seeing anything in the status bar of C6 while is it supposedly sending?

Just to make sure: In C6 Config -> MIDI Preferences page the interface has to be highlighted before pressing ok, not just visible there.

At least that’s how it worked on my Mac. I struggled a long while with the “waiting for data” message before understanding that.

And also, when you load the file in C6, you also have to actually click on it and highlight it…

Tank you everybody for your help.

I actually figured out that my problem was that I did not update the OS of my A4.
So now updated my A4, and everything works smoothly ! I have uploaded a few soundpack. Its very handy !
