Send CV to Max

[ltr]Hello,[/ltr]

[ltr]I’d like to use the CV track on my Elektron Analog Four synth to control objects (BEAP, etc.) in Max. There is a wealth of information about sending data from Max, but not so much about sending CV to Max. Please advise. Thank you.[/ltr]

You’ll need some sort of input device which can talk meaningfully to Max. You can use MOTU audio interfaces to get CV out, that’s easy, but, the inputs are not DC coupled, you might need to look at expert sleepers stuff or ask on muffs, maybe look into using an arduino

Step one is to learn how CV works

I cross-posted this on the Cycling forum and got a great reply.

Thanks!

Care to provide the cycling forum link ?

It’s one of the forum members here i think, here it is

However, whilst the post also repeats that most input devices are not suited to CV it doesn’t hammer home the point that the A4 can chuck out +/-10v, so you really want to be sure your hardware will be fine with that if you dial up a dangerous signal, plus i doubt (hunch, not checked) the Max ADC will be dealing with anything above maybe 1.3v

The CV track on the A4 is the gateway to modular land. I can feel it.

avantronica has the correct link.

Thank you!

well, any track (and no track) can be used for CV output, so more correctly, the jacks are the gateway, you could drive a cv channel from a knob directly, or from an lfo e.g. with no connection to a sequence or trigs
