Is there a way to see what steps of a sequence have been p-locked or Trig-conditioned an which not? Without clicking every trigs that are activ. An overview of Not Locked and Locked trigs.
Hi,
Trigs that are pulsing or blinking indicate a P-locked step on most Elektron devices. Solid colored trigs don’t have parameters assigned to them. Yellow trigs are “trigless” and only have parameters assigned with no note triggers. Unlit trigs are unused.
This should be the sequencer paradigm, with a few exceptions. I’d have to take a look at the AR manual, but I’d assume it’s the same.
Was this your question or did I misunderstand?
Yes that was my questions. But I do not think p-Locked steps are blinking on my AR mk2?
So it must be AR MK1 perhaps? I’ll take a look at your manual and see if I can figure it out.
Ok it is MkII? Hmm… I’ll still see if I can figure it out real quick for you.
This is copied from the AR MK2 manual so I think it’s correct that they blink or flash.
As long as you’re talking about the sequencer trigs which have numbers on them, then this should be the way.
Maybe you have no locked trigs?
Thank you for this
Did you need to know also?? lol
No. But felt the dedication with which you jumped on helping out a common elektronaut deserved a thanks.
I’ve noticed you being in there often with star support on many topics, and you have a rare ability be thorough and yet on point with people’s various issues.
I expect many people recognize you from your service to the meme portion of this forum, but for a long time I’ve been wanting to recognize the effort I see you put into helping a lot of the newcomers to the Elektron workflow.
[insert not-all-heroes-wear-capes meme]
In truth we are all common elektronauts, and we can all use a bit of support from time to time.
Thank you for your recognition and also for your support
Thank you shigginpit!
Locked trigs are flashing indeed (I would not call it rapidly like in the manual though )
BUT: Only on the Locks on the parameter keys (SRC - LFO). Strangly this is not the case for parameter locks on the TRIG key
The Locks I use the most are changing Velocity and Length. And of course Note for synth tracks. Those locks will not flash.
But the most disturbing lack of info about parameter locks concerns the PRB setting. I like conditional Locks like notes that play only every 4th pattern. It is disturbing to see those notes that are rarely playing visually as present as the other notes.
But there must be a reason…
It’s really no problem, I’m glad to try and help.
That behavior does sound a bit strange to me, but I don’t know if it’s normal or not, hopefully someone with a RYTM can give an opinion. It seems to me like the trigs should flash as well. Are you only using 1 sequencer page? Just making sure that when you’re looking for the locked trigs, that you aren’t seeing the trigs for a different sequencer page.
Also, what I saw in the manual regarding notes for synth tracks, was that the note trigs you place will illuminate the corresponding pad red but only in chromatic mode and only when you hold down the trig key containing the locked note.
I hope you’re reading all this, RMR!
We are bloody lovely people!
Elektron clearly separates the TRIG function from the other Parameters.
So it’s a decision.
But for Condition Locks is really a problem.
Some of it must be related to (I’m sure) part of the code being inherited from RYTM mk1. I can only assume that this is the case, but I don’t know that there’s any way to confirm that other than by this sort of deductive reasoning, given the behaviors and the architecture of the machine.
I think it’s similar on the A4/AK. I guess they seperate notes from actual automation. If parameters on the trig page would also flash, in many cases every single trig would flash, as usually there is at least the note value and velocity locked.
Another thing that makes it clear Elektron seperates the trig page from the parameter pages is live recording; can’t live record parameters on the trig page like velocity (which would be useful for hi hats and other percussion btw.) and you can’t modulate trig page parameters with an lfo, env, mod wheel etc. scene or macro.
Thanks for the explanation, I’m sure OP appreciates it as well!
