This is cool…I’ve taken my P6 to a few parks in Stanwood but want to show my kid more of the parks closer to Seattle. My parents used to live in Brier so Brierwood Park was always visited.

woah cool! thats a fun connection, Brierwood Park was a quick new favorite. i havent gotten as far north as Stanwood in this project yet but im sure ill end up there soon enough. we’re really littered with parks here in Washington

quick one from tonight. its a sunny week, gonna try to sneak in as many after work as a i can. brought my sh-4d and ep-133 to Crown Hill Glen not too far from my apartment. its a cool little neighborhood-maintained park. steep trail and lots of cool plants. i posted up in the sun on a bench and made four patches on the sh-4d. sampled those into the ep-133 and made this. its one of my favorites of my recent tunes

im glad the sun is showing itself more and more, my job gets so much easier when the kids are enjoying the sunshine. this week has already been a long one and its only tuesday! but we’re making it through. im moving in ten days so im trying to enjoy the free time while i have it.

decided to pack light and only brought my m8 to Ross Park. this was a neat small park, it was mostly a little baseball field. it was tucked away in a little neighborhood near the venue where i saw trash80 preform not too long ago. ive been recording the sounds of the park and putting them into the tracks again. came home and ran it through the 404 for the last bits of sauce

i gotta stop judging a park by its location on the map, the spot i found today was super serene. i went to Beaver Pond Natural Area, a little nature reserve area 10 minutes from my apartment. on a map it looks like its in a more commercial type area so i passed it over many times. it was actually in a very chill little residential area and i got to sit next to a rushing creek. there was what looked to be a manmade beaver dam next to me, at least it didnt look like any beaver dams ive seen at the other parks.

made this tune on the ep133, sampled the chords and synth tones off the m8. i sampled the creek at the end too, used the ep133 mic, im not sure which mic wins between the ep133 and the m8.

got a couple from this past weekend. went out and about before my nephew’s baptism easter vigil service deal. that shit was wild, it was three hours long. and i really listened to the stuff they were saying in the readings and basically all i heard was “look at all these fools who didnt believe in me, i killed those idiots, better hang with me, check it out you get so much cool stuff if you praise me.” gang initiation type shit.

anywho, this track was made at Twin Ponds Park in Shoreline, WA. i’ve driven past this park a million times but never stopped in. it was a chill little zone, i posted up in a nice clearing on a bench and used my ellitone keycontrol to play with a granular patch on the p-6. i recorded a few phrases into the m8 and then arranged them on there. ran it through some 404 fx just now to finish it up.

this one was made at Virgil Flaim Park. this one was sick. seems a guy named Virgil Flaim was behind the conception of this park. i love his straightforward quote on the electrical box near the outer perimeter, “The kids need a place to play.” damn right Virgil. i made this tune on the p-6, sampled some multisampled roland sounds off the m8.

boy howdy today was wild at work. the kids were going off the handle nonstop. i swear transition times between seasons make the kids short circuit.

blew off some steam after work by going to Webster Park over in Ballard. its an alright park, not really the kind that im looking for but im trying to check off all of them so its an easy one for a quick after work sesh. it was mostly a basketball court and a playground. i found one bench near a sun dial and a funny sun face. some young parents were trying to get their kid to leave at the end of my time there and they sucked real bad at handling the situation. i think more people would have less kids if everyone worked at a preschool for a year before having kids.

made this tune on the s1 and p6 combo. im digging this pairing, being able to sample chords to the p6 solves most of my challenges that i had the first few times around with the s1. and its easy to get flowing with a copy paste pattern workflow on the two together. fun time! looking forward to more

I enjoyed both, but particularly enjoyed twin granulated ponds… it has a very subtle Telstar clavioline vibe…

thank you for the comparison! i hadnt heard that before, when i was making it i thought it was sounding kinda cheesy so i appreciate being reminded that this kinda vibe has been around and is still nice to hear. thanks for listening!

todays jam is from South Woods Park in Shoreline, WA. i spent most of today at another park taking my class on a field trip and it was a long day. these kids start getting real wild when we skip nap time. skipped my break too, im beat! this was a fun tune to make to unwind.

this park was mostly a trail through the woods, i came across an area that had recently been worked on by a work party and there were a bunch of stumps to sit on. popped on up and made this tune on the p6 and s1. i like how i can mess with the knobs on the s1 while i record the track into the 404 and i can just turn it off to undo all the changes.

it has been a crazy week. i moved into a new apartment over the weekend by myself so ive been absolutely zonked the past two days. and yesterday we had to call paramedics at work because a kid fell over a fence and split his eyebrow open and i was the one who was stopping the bleeding and calming him down. intense day.

finally started to feel like myself again today and i didnt have anything pressing after work, so i went on a walk in the new neighborhood. im basically in the same place because being able to walk to work is my highest priority for an apartment, im just like 15 blocks away from my last spot. there is a small little weird park within walking distance that i hadnt gone to yet because its hardly a park, its just a triangle of grass with a bench between a few streets, so i went over there to make this tune.

used the p6 and s1 combo, i had to experiment a bit more than usual to get it sounding decent to me. felt a little rusty. but it felt good to crank one out. this is number 90 in the parks series! ten more till i hit that big one double Oh

music may kinda snuck up on me, im gonna go for it again. stayed tuned for a daily post. i think for music may im gonna allow some repeat parks, my new spot is right next to one of my favorite big parks in Seattle so i’ll probably be hitting that up on days when i dont have the time to go farther.

got a strong start for Music May!

got off work and headed to Meridian Park over in Wallingford. I hadn’t done this one yet because its kind of a pain in the ass getting across traffic at rush hour but i wasnt that bad and i had plenty of sunlight left. this park is cool, they have the farmers market there and its got lots of nice little trees and daisies. i used to go there a bunch as a teen because my homies older cousin lived nearby and we could be gremlins in his basement. get high and go to the park, fun times.

made this tune on the ep133 and s1. i used the ep133 to play chords on the s1 and sampled a chain of chords into the ep133 which i then chopped. first time chopping anything in the ep133 lol, long time coming. i think this one turned out really well, a good beginning to the month.

i still had some sunlight by the time i got home so i walked over to this hardly-a-park nearby called Heart of Phinney Park. its just a small natural area on the corner of a road, easily the smallest park ive been to so far. it was just me and a homeless lady rolling cigarettes and a homeless guy sleeping in the bush behind me. i sat at one of the chess tables and whipped this beat up on the M8. i was getting cold so i kinda rushed it, but its a small tune for a small park. then i threw an acapella on top and it became elevated. a fun quick tune.

i went hard today! so hard that i won’t be able to post all six that i made. i got three of them finished up, i’ll get the other three up tomorrow before i do some new ones. im going to a show with a friend tonight so i need to hit a nap!

i started off at Golden Gardens. this is the de facto beach in Seattle. its alright, i almost never go there because its nearly always packed to the brim. but i showed up at 8am so it was wide open. i made this tune on the M8. i was getting pretty cold so i kinda cruised through this one. but i like the young dolph acapella over it.

next i stopped at a little viewpoint park up the road from Golden Gardens. this is a really tiny park but its cozy and has a great view of the water. i made this one on the ep133 with some samples off the s1.

next i went to the botanical garden on the other side of the Ballard Locks. made this tune on the p6 with some samples off of the s1. i gotta hit a nap, ill post the rest tomorrow!

the past few days have been super busy, both music-wise and socially!

i got the other three from friday uploaded so lets start there. the problem is its been long enough that i dont really remember any specifics about these ones.

this one was at Marsh Park over in Kirkland. It felt like a nearly Summer day, tons of people were out and about soaking in the rays. i think this one was a s1/p6 combo? not positive

next i went to Dennis Cooper Beach Park which was right up the road. basically the same park as Marsh park, felt mostly like i was just in it to check it off the list. but i like the tune i made! i think this was an ep133 tune with samples from the s1.

finally i stopped at Rhododendron Park. the name made me think there would be way more flowers but it was still a nice environment. mostly big open grassy spaces. i think this must have been a p6 beat.

this one isnt a park tune, but a music may tune exclusively. a homie and i went to see an ambient performance down at the central library yesterday and it was really cool. we went back to my spot to jam afterwards and this ambient piece came out of my gear at one point. i recorded it to finish up later, today i ran it through the resonator and hadou/zanzou mix on the 404.

today i went to two different parks.

the first one was West Ewing Mini Park down on the canal across from Fremont. this was a super chill little park except for the gaggle of geese that were hanging out there. they were making some of the wildest sounds ive heard out of a goose, so i ended up moving farther away from them out of fear. this tune was made on the two p6s as well as the s1 all linked up together. it was a little unwieldy, especially after i left the table i was using, but it still came together fairly quickly.

finally i went to David Rodgers Park on Queen Anne. i used to come here as a little kid and i had track practice occasionally on the track below it. i found a cool old swing set pit that was basically abandoned and left to rot, it was a cool desolate playground scene. i made this tune on the m8 and s1, i sequenced patterns from the m8 and then did the quick rendering to bring all the patterns into audio on the m8. it was a fun time i’ll keep playing with this setup

and that marks 100 tracks in the park tunes project! heres to 100 more!
