Saturated Fats

Hey!

My name is Kamil Macinski and I’m pretty bad at putting myself out there so i decided to create this thread here as an outlet for my musical experiments.

I’m rather impatient and chaotic and i think these traits are reflected in my approach to making music. I tend to change my setup quite often and leave stuff all over the place but the core of the setup is Digitakt with separate channels running through cheap ass soundraft mixer.

I hope you’re all doing well

Instead of arranging this one i actually did a quick jam straight to tape.
Digitakt and Reaktor are fun as hell together

Very nice, got a cool groove! I also love the use of noise and crackle, very musical.
The pitch bending synth is sick too, balances out the atmosphere more towards something dark and tense – in a good way. I wish it would have resolved into something though haha.

I think my tape recorder just died after recording those reel spinning.
Hopefully something that can be fixed.

Cool groove! But Digitakt separate channels and mixer map 1-8??

Thanks! Yes… Digitakt channels are mapped to 1-8 channels in the mixer.
Pres on this thing add some saturation and crunch transients in very nice way i think.

But…8 analog mixer channels for L & R out? Wait, you’re using OB and route them out from there, of course :relieved:

Actually i’m using aggregate audio on mac. It’s bit simpler setup-wise imo and only this way i can sample anything back to DT.

Could you explain how you’re using the DT with the mixer?

I’d imagine you’re using DT USB > PC > DAC > mixer?

That workflow looks attractive to me, but I’ve never used it like that. I have a workflow with a mixer, effects, and easy resampling from and back into the DT.

It is exactly like you imagine.
DT + 16outs interface as aggregate device on Mac straight to mixer.

Reaktor is doing all the routing as of now:

I’ve seen Alien 2 weeks ago and oh boy … those practical effects and sound design were really impressing.

I think this tune might be partly inspired by it but it kind of went in different direction which resulted in 7 minutes journey.
Visualisations were made with processing/p5js.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy it :rocket:
