Hi there
I have a Hydrasynth connected to a Digitakt 2. I often record 64 or even 128 step long synth sequences that almost equally often have tails that should fade out after a stop in song mode or after looping.
Do any of you have a good workflow? At the moment I usually record by setting the exact steps and arming it with “start with play” mode.
In the case of a 64 step, it would be great to record 64 steps plus fade out. Unfortunately the next size up is 128. Doing it manually slows the process down quite a bit.
Thanks for any good ideas
John

it’s been the case with every looper and even Ableton since the dawn of sampling.
first you should record your synth without reverb and delay, and apply the digitakt reverb and delay.
if your tails are too long the technique is to record 2 loops , one without a tail at the beginning and one with a tail and use the corresponding loop depending where you’re positionning in the song structure.
the other method wich i prefer because i use samplers from a long time ago and is more conveniant is to sample only the portion of your synth that is loopable and recreate the synth sound with a loop and corresponding envelopes and filters, this way you can not always recreate the same sound but you stay away from headaches and you save some precious ram.
Last method i used in my video : sequence with digitakt and record with ableton the entire session .
Hope i made it clear
