Hi. Recently (maybe always, but I don’t think so) when I’m sampling into the Digitakt if I arm the track it will start recording right away even If the sample source isn’t playing. It records this horrible static. Also it’s not monitoring the sound. When I record with the sample source playing then everything’s fine and it sounds good. Does anybody know what’s up with this?
That is the noise floor being recorded, up your threshold to like 5 and it will go away. Being able to sample the noise floor appears to be intentional

Oh man you’re a genius. Thanks! It’s hard to imagine someone using the noise floor to make music. It sounds horrible!
I still can’t monitor the signal for some reason.
Noise can be shaped in many ways on the digitakt. You can use looping to turn noise into grain synthesis stuff. Noise also makes good hi hats, snares, and drones.
Do you have monitoring turned on?
