Samples quiet in Octatrack

Hello.

I’m very new to OT, it’s a confusing mess at the moment! Sticking with it.

The latest thing vexing me is the level of imported samples. They play fine on the DT, on the Mac, on anything else. In the OT they are so quiet you can barely hear them. Levels are all at max. Is there a special way I’m supposed to prep samples for the OT?

I’m exporting from Ableton. Grab a loop, export to wav, leave everything as is apart from convert to mono for using on the DT also.

Any ideas?

Ignore me it was the damn balance thing again!

Which I assume is because they are mono samples?

Could be a couple of things. How are you recording them? Are you doing pickup machines or just hitting the record button? I like recording stuff by just hitting the “rec1/rec2” button based on which input I’m using. Either way I’d recommend you go into your setup menus for both by doing [func + rec1 or rec2] check your levels here too. Also I’ve found that OT seems to like it better when I’m using BOTH inputs as a stereo pair I.e. ab or cd. Keep at it!

These are exported from Ableton into the CF card, not recorded onto the OT.

Gotcha as I was rereading your post I realized that’s what you were doing!

I’m so new I just wanna get basic working. Recording can wait for next week

Compared to my other hardware this thing is so deep.
