Hello, I’m looking for a video that shows how I can include a .wav library in the model cycles. First of all, is it possible to include samples and if so, how and in what format? If it does not include .wav and if syex, how do I transform .wav to syex. Greetings and thank you!!
Welcome!
You cannot do this.
The Cycles is a synth that is drum oriented, you synthesize sounds from the different engines, you can save presets and recall them, even lock one on a step.
But it doesn’t play samples. Model:Samples does, not the Model:Cycles.
A .wav file contains a digital representation of changeinh sound levels over time.
A sysex data bundle contains control information to configure features of a particular device. Sysex for one device likely wont work for another.
In order to translate wav to sysex, you’d first need a way to transform an audio signal into a reinterpretation of that audio signal for a given instruement’s sound generating architecture. Most instruements wont be able to be controlled the way this needs. In terms of hardware instruements, only the Synclavier has enough synthesis power and control to do this, as far as I know. Some modern powerhouse synths like Iridium probably could too, but only if they’re programmed to. There’ll be some software around that can do it too, I’m sure. Once you have this new patch for this specific synth, you could use sysex to transfer it from your conputer to an instance of this synth.
The Cycles couldn’t do it. Its synth engines are too limited.
