Sampler for transitions?

Hi!

Is there something i could use to transition between tracks? I’m not ready to invest in Octatrack just for this purpose, so any alternatives? Good syncing, enough memory, sound quality matchable to the Elektron gear, small size and not over-expensive)

So far i found Kaoss pad 3, but people say it’s not very good at syncing to external clock…

KP3 drifts a bit when synced but it’s only noticeable after a while, for transitions it would work fine. I always just match the bpm manually to save using another midi cable.

Machinedrum UW is the obvious alternative if you have one, & suites my needs almost perfectly.

The best alternative for your criteria is the Electrix Repeater if you can find one, although it is a 19" rack unit so not so small, but definitely cheaper than the OT.

Another thing I used was Ipad with loopy HD tempo controlled by my hardware with input running from Octatrack headphone out. Worked quite well.

What about the Roland SP404SX?

It’s quite limited in comparison to the Octatrack, but could work for what you want the price is pretty decent (around $400).

I’ve actually found the KP3 to be pretty rock solid when synced from my Elektrons. It’s pretty permanently attached to my Machinedrum these days :).
