Sample slicing workflow question

(I’m considering buying Octatrack)

If I quickly chop sample using slice grid, can I then extend slices by adjusting each slice start and end points so that the slices overlap? Like in Maschine or MPC.

Yes, every slice is always editable in both directions with overlaping.

I know you’re talking about adjusting the sample slice points but just be cautious with the term overlapping. The OT’s tracks are monophonic, so the samples themselves can’t overlap each other per track. You can’t layer per track like you can on an MPC.

Apologies if i’m stating the obvious.

You mean slices choke each other on the same track, that’s fine.
But when sequencing external midi gear OT is polyphonic?

Yes.

Only 4 note polyphony though. And i think all 4 notes will be the same length.

…and velocity? I think someone mentioned that in Digitrack review on Youtube.

Well, you can always use multiple MIDI tracks sending on the same MIDI channel. So the limits are 4*8 note polyphony with 8 different lengths/velocities.
