So with the Octatrack, you have 44.1 and with the Rytm it’s 48. Isn’t this a conflict with the DAWs, especially when the settings have to be either 48 or 44.1? Using Ableton, their reference suggests that you don’t have discrepancies in sample rates when using audio files so that you can maintain sonic integrity. As far as I know, Rytm doesn’t allow us to downsample. And how is this going to effect overbridge with the rytm and using samples from the octatrack that are 44.1?
The OT can’t be connected digitaly to ableton. It wont be getting Overbridge so the digital rules dont apply.
The audio from the OT will be converted by your recording interface to match ableton
Possibly a different story if you make a sample on the OT and the try to play it back within ableton at 48khz tho.
Live converts sample rate on the fly, make sure u have hi quality SR conversion toggled. In most cases, the only time sample rate mismatches matter is if you are recording using digital connectors (MADI, spdif etc…).
These issues are clearly evident with the pitch of the sample being altered on playback. However, most people i know still record an analog signal, even if it goes through stages of DAC / ADC.
But it is good DAW practice to try and keep audio file formats consistent to avoid issues.
Mezz, that’s what I was wondering with sampling in the OT. I know OT won’t have digital connection. I’d be saving the samples in Octatrack which would be in 44.1/24 or 16. But as Blip says, I suppose the SR conversion in Live is the solution.
