when you purge samples in the octatrack, does it get rid of any samples that are only used as a sample lock trigger ? I know I can do a dummy project to test this out myself, but thought I would ask in here as I’m not near the machine right now to test it myself and I cant find an answer in the existing threads …
If I remember correctly, it will purge any file that is not being used. Samples locked in a trigger is considered used: they will show in pattern’s data, so they are not purge. I can’t confirm 100% but I’ve never experienced issues with sample purge to think or remember otherwise.
yep one of OT hidden ghost features… hehe.
Means sample locked trigs without an actual slot entry play nothing but chop (stop) a playing machine slot sample. Would be a grand feature if it would simply ignore unfilled slot’s. Because a complex rhythmic based on sample could be noted without even being recorded yet, despite it works already the sound cut from them is *rrrrgh
I can confirm Sample Locks are considered as used.
Something to know, not in the manual:
Tracks 1-8 are assigned to slots 1-8 by default. So Slots 1-8 (Flex and Static) are considered as used by default, unless you modify all parts of the project.
ok nice one for the info ! appreciated.
