So I was dj’ing the other night, and it was the first time I brought my OT along. I plugged it into the rig, just after the mixer output, so I could play with effect a bit.
I had a few patterns there to play with, and programmed 2 scenes, and with these 3 patterns and cross fading between the scene I was able to entertain the crowd for a good 15 minutes. I was surprised how little I needed to have people dance for a while.
Made me realize that it might be simpler to play live for a dancing audience (keep the beat going but no here to judge/listen to all the details/complexity of the creation). It feels like it’s a lot simpler to keep a certain beat going for a while and have these transition when the purpose is only dancing.
So I wonder, what is your ratio of prepared material for dance floor purpose? Like if you prepare a live show I get the idea that you’d prepare everything to the second, but if it’s just for good time, from my estimate you could have 18 patterns and 4 to 6 scene and I could probably get people dancing for 2 to 3 hours???
