Having some difficulties moving samples internally from DRIVE to RAM etc, also moving from directory INCOMING to other directories inc the current Project.

RYTM is telling me there are errors each time I move a sample(s), even though I am following the workflow correctly.

I can upload a sample via SDS Drop or C6 (yes all are latest versions), but unable to move samples internally.

What are the sample spec limitations on the RYTM– file size, type, length etc

Some of my samples are in AIF format–might that be the issue?, I thought SDS converted them to WAV? Some samples are WAV file and cannot be moved internally.

Appreciate your help!

Have worked out samples are indeed loaded into particular directories, I can preview the sound with FUNCTION + YES, when I select certain sounds and select “LOAD TO PROJ” I get the message " 0 SAMPLE LOADED".

Yes there are plenty of sample slots (100+) left in the active project.

Hope someone can help

Something is really messed up as I cannot delete samples from ‘incoming’ directory either!

sounds strange!

can you tell how full your +drive is approximately? Maybe this is what happens if it’s filled up.

Re loading to project: what happens if you create a new project with empty sample list - can you load samples into this project?
Could be that sample RAM is full despite not using all slots, this would explain why you can’t load samples to the project.

But the +drive thing is weird, unfortunately the Rytm does not report what’s going on in detail…

Have you contacted support?

About file format: this doesn’t matter, PCM data is simply packed into chunks defined by the SDS protocol, and then translated back to raw PCM by the receiving side…

Edit: oops made a mis-calculation, am indeed near the 64MB limit within current project so it’s obvious i cannot load large samples anymore (so it’s not 1.30 related)

I’ve experienced the same recently, including a few weeks before the new OS drop. I had a situation more or less the same as described above: working in OB, I found that I couldn’t load a large sample chain to a RAM slot (got the “0 samples loaded” message despite being able to preview it just fine. I also figured that it could be that I had exceeded the project RAM capacity, but upon adding up I confirmed I was well below 64 MB…

Smaller sample chains could load fine…

Thanks for the replies:

It might be I’ve reached the RAM capacity of 64MB (which I did not know). I have various sample/chains ranging from 2-11MB, so that will make sense.

But not sure why I cannot delete samples from directories, IE sample not loaded to RAM/current project. (will contact support)

My +Drive is not even close to being full, as I’ve recently purchased the RYTM and started uploading my own samples.

Guess I need to try initializing a new project and try from there.

A little frustrating Elektron don’t elaborate further on the details of the +Drive for the RYTM. The MD is easier with it’s sample restrictions!

Hi guys. I have the same problem and it drives me crazy. When I load samples to the Rytm, they show up in the sound pool but I can not assign some of them to a slot. It looks like the slot is engaged by another sample which is invisible.
Also I cannot load large sample chains although C6 or SDS Drop seem to transfer the data. Any ideas how I can solve this problem?

There is finite RAM
plus, samples don’t end up in the Sound Pool, the Sound Pool is for Sounds
Samples end up somewhere on the +Drive, to load them into sample slots you need to remember that there is only 64Mb RAM

Thank you for your reply avantronica! It seems like i have to focus more on the sample management in the next couple of days. Elektron boxes are full of surprises.
