Sample chain LFO > slice question

Im having a bit of confusion with the octatrack.

i have 64 sample chain, and i want it to be a random hit each time

LFO set to:

PMTR PB STRT

TRIG

(speed and mult can be anything, right?)

now, this is where i get confused. logic would state that i should set DEPTH to 64, so it has 64 slices to choose from?

but most of the time its just triggering the first slice. - what setting to achieve what i want?

i know there has been a thread on this before, but the guy just said he has changed the parameter. i can seem to get it working right

and also, how does LFO2 DEPTH > LFO1 DEPTH work?

if LFO1 DEP is on 64

LFO2 modulates it

if i set LFO2 DEP to 32 does that mean LFO1 is now 96? or is it 32 either side of center?

My guess is that the reason the first slice is being triggered most often is because the LFO is going from -63 to +63. So when the LFO is at a negative value, it triggers slice 01 because it cannot go lower than that. I think you can fix this by setting the STRT knob to the middle value on the PLAYBACK page. I’m pretty sure this worked when I tried it, although that was several weeks ago.

Maybe set TRIG to FREE?

modulatia is right set the slice # to center. I actually first came here with this same question

Just wanted to add (for any newbies out there) since it´s not entirely clear in this thread:

random waveform selected.

ahhh thanks for that!

am RTFM as much as possible.

really good to get stuck in with the octa after using the others a lot more
