Personally, I really like the RYTM’s compressor; I always need to use it in order to get the RYTM’s kicks to sound how I like. That’s why I’m always surprised when someone expresses their distaste for it or shares that they never even use it. I’m really curious to hear from people who don’t like it why they don’t like it. What exactly don’t you like about the RYTM’s compressor?
I’ve been getting good results using it both subtly and drastically. I also think it’s amazing to be able to parameter lock and automate an analog compressor the way you can with the RYTM; that’s unheard of!
The only thing I don’t like about it is that when the gain reduction vu-meter goes down by 1 pixel, there is already a LOT of distortion EDIT: compression applied.
I wish it was more accurate in the small gain reduction settings.
Currently it’s the last step before my tracks record to a DAW. Mainly use it as a parralel effect around 65-80 mix. Love p-locking it and the reverb to make huge gated swells!
I do like it a lot, though sometimes there seem to be clicks let thru from transients even at the fastest attacks (maybe because there’s no look ahead), and some bassy sounds can get crackly at the lowest attacks and release times.
My kick is normally bypassed from the compressor. I use it more to glue the percussion rythms. Then I can hit it hard and set up something nice quite easily. However, must say that indeed with bass/low its a bit more difficult to find some sweetspots and its easly overcranked.
I wish it had a gain reduction meter dB reading, and an external input gain parameter / or input page.

Yes. That’s it. But how many dB of Gain Reduction am I getting? How many pixels is 1dB? 4dB?

Lately I tried to use the MD as Rytm input and I was not very satisfied by the result…

I did this with the a4 and the OT… at this point it is getting quite complex because i have to do a proper leveling because of the low input-levels the AR provides.
