Hi There,
I am using Logic 9 and a MOTU Micro Express to connect my RYTM.
In the past I have connected my RYTM through USB and when I hit play in Logic the pattern I have programmed on the RYTM sequencer starts playing.
I now want to connect only through MIDI. The USB is disconnected and I am running MIDI in from the MOTU. When I hit play in Logic the RYTM does not play. However, if I create a MIDI track in Logic and sequence the RYTM from Logic it plays fine.
I would prefer to sequence from the RYTM what do I need to do to get the RYTM sequence to play when I hit play in Logic?
Thanks!

That is how I have everything set already so it has to be something else. Logic specific?
Check the Auto Channel setting. The default is 14 I think so it will respond to messages on channel 14. There is an OFF setting but I don’t know what it does.
So if I create a MIDI channel in Logic and set it to channel 14 the RYTM should play when I hit play in Logic?
The Auto channel is 14 but when I play a MIDI note on this channel it does nothing. I can trigger each of the pads with MIDI but still can’t get the RYTM to play its internal sequence.
This seems like really basic stuff, I don’t understand why it works automatically with USB but not with MIDI.
Thanks!
What you want can be done as far as I know. Is there a setting in the MOTU that is wrong?
I can’t help any further as I only use it to fire the sounds with an electronic drum kit and it works fine for that.
Here is the solution in case it helps anyone else.
In logic preferences >MIDI > Sync > MIDI Sync Project Settings…
Then under the MIDI clock check Destination 1 and select All
Thanks for your help!
