Ooh nice techno. I liked it quite a bit, really well produced.

As a listener, that sound you begin with it morphs really nice into a sort of atmospheric ambience with nice reverb around 4 minute mark. Well I kind of wanted more of that. But I understand how it might clash with your genre. I got into modern techno through “Shifted-Crossed Paths” I loved the sound textures in the back of the beats on the tracks, but he later removed all of them from production and went for a colder industrial sound. I like cold but I also liked those atmospheres. Had lots of good memories listening to that albums, your track brought me back there.

Not to me, you didn’t.

I’ve spent a good deal of time importing loads of weird synth hits, stabs, fx, chords as sample chains into Rytm. All that weird background atmosphere is from one of those samples set to an odd start point, looping, and LFO changing the start point, so that it goes in and out of other samples in the chain.

Glad it could bring up some memories for ya.

This particular track really has really cemented my love for Analog Rytm. The live modes, sample layers, and the big track count allow me to write without ever feeling limited.
I’ve considered ditching the Analog Four in favor of a 2nd Rytm for live work. Next week I’ll start giving A4 one last chance to prove itself (for my productions) with the help of 4 drum voices via Nord Drum sequenced via CV trigger on the CV & FX tracks. Looking at bass multi fx pedals for extra assistance on the drums.

Oh man, I tried getting rid of A4…twice. Had to call the guy and apologize at the last minute. I know it’s limited but I bought it because I always wanted an analog acid box (of course Rytm can do that now) I mean I don’t know. If I ever got rid of A4 the Rytm would have to go and I would get the two silver Elektrons.

Yea, that’s my exact fear. Instant regret.

I think my issue is how I approach the Analog Four. Rytm and MnM came so naturally, I instantly felt at home… but A4 has me in an initial mentality of “okay, only 4 tracks… make it count!” every time I sit down with it.

Offloading the drums to Nord Drum duty, but keeping them on the same sequencer (which is very important to me) could be a good way of making it finally click for me. I also need to take the time to stack my sound pool with some great techno stabs, and offload everything in the pool that I’ll never use. Using non-drum sound locks could turn it around for me.
