Rytm RAM Upgrade

I couldnt find a topic to this. Was wondering if anybody with some hardware knowledge (I am limited in this) has checked to see if there might be an option of somehow upgrading the Rytm RAM. This is basically the only thing I dislike about it. I would love to just load huge sample chains and go about it.

anybody?

Probably a similar situation to this:

If the OS only knows how to address a certain amount then even if you put a larger memory module in, it might not be usable.

makes sense. but maybe the OS checks the size. depending on how high the cost would be, it might be worth trying.

anybody from elektron here who could comment this?

Sure. The RAM used is in a BGA package and soldered to the PCB, it’s not a simple plug-and-play DIMM socket as in your PC. It is not recommended to try to remove it (as in “you will most likely destroy the PCB without proper manufacturing tools”, exchanging a BGA package is not the same as building a hobby kit or changing a potentiometer).

(Since I’m working on hardware I can not speak far the OS, but I would believe that the OS is written for exactly the size of memory we use as it is not expected to be exchanged in field.)

I hope this answers your question!
