Rytm or OP-1

If you consider the op 1 you may want to consider getting the iconnect midi 4. This midi box will allow you to midi sync with the rest of y our midi instruments.

Finally got to play my friends OP1 this morning.
Within about an hour he said “your getting that thing to do way more than I have.”

That thing is FUN!
I want one bad, not sure if I need one, but eventually I will buckle.

Picked up the OP-1 last week 15% off. Coming from working with the Elektrons, the learning curve on this thing is a bit high for me. But I think I’m finally getting it.

Ironically, I’m probably going to get the Rytm as well.

As others have mentioned. My biggest issue with the op-1 is the lack of a deep saving structure. It is definitely fun to create with but lacked any deep sense of progress since everything felt so temporary. Teenage Engineering are great at selling Elektron machines. I didn’t realize I needed the features of the A4 and RYTM until I discovered the limitations of the op-1.

for a month or so I used the op-1 for synth and clocked with the RYTM using a usb host. Eventually I couldn’t resist and sold the op-1 for the A4. There is a lot of learning required on the elektron machines but the sound, design, and depth make everything worth it.

the more temporary the better
jam and record… make something else next time

Op-1 is definitely a great sketchpad.

+1

Either or just turned into an AND. The workflow video was the nudge I needed and I just order a Rytm…I have no idea how I’m going to afford it.

Anxiously excited!

Have both (OP1 1 year, Rytm 1 month), they are 2 diff children of sweden.

OP1 is Stockholm (eastcoast) sleek, fun, fast and ceative.
Rytm is Gothenborg (westcoast) industrial, deep, heavy and creative.

OP1 is the most fun for the money and u really have to try it to believe it, the limitiations is its strength!
Rytm is nearly bottomless (not the bass) in possibilitys and tweaking, the sound is amazing and the deep workflow is its strength.

Agree with lots of people that both OP1 and Rytm hasnt the best filing/archive system, But maybe archiving isnt my strong side either…

So Stockholm or Gothenborg, weastcoast or eastcoast, OP1 or Rytm?? Sometimes its hard to choose so dont, get’em all!
