is it possible to route syntakt main out thru usb into the analog rytm to free the rytm external inputs? if so or if youve done this succesfully would the external input of the syntakt also flow into the rytm?
thinking of buying a syntakt, the signal path would go like this:
volca nubass into rytm external in for compression> rytm vcos individual outputs into microcosm into syntakt ext in for drive and hipassing and then hopefully back to rytm thru usb and then rytm going straight to my interface
im currently using the sampling inputs for the volca but those dont go thru compression and if this doesnt work; im already thinking of incorporating a heat+fx although the idea of not having the bass going into the analog compressor with the kick is not that attractive to me…
You have to use overbridge for this. Once you have it set up on the computer, you can route an audio track from the computer to a (mono) rytm track. You can not connect another device directly via USB, only through overbridge.
thanks for replying i should have specified its rytm mk2 and i found out it does work with my phone going into it, played stereo samples from koala and the compressor does react nicely… im assuming it would work the same way with the syntakt using its usb audio out?
i tried plugging a roland e4 into it and didnt work the same way, im guessing because the phone automatically becomes the slave and with the roland i think there needs to be a computer in the way to switch that functionality on which is upsetting, that would have solved my problem immediately since im routing the volca into the e4 main input, i know the mix in doesnt go thru there so i guess its for the better given that if the syntakt way works ill have an extra input going into the rytm ext in
