Rytm MK2 killing other USB devices

Hi all. This weird bug just started happening out of the blue. Rytm MK2. Firmware 1.7. OB 2.7.9. M1 Mac. When connecting the Rytm via USB, it will work for a moment, then stop sending any audio, whilst also making numerous other USB devices stop working until a Mac restart (mouse keyboard etc), even when operating via a different USB port / hub. This also happens if I just open the standalone OB app.

So flippin annoying and weird as just started out of nowhere. Anyone else experiencing this or got a fix?

Many thanks

same versions here and don’t have this problem with m1 mac studio, have you tried connecting it without OB? is soundcard
mode? just wondering if that’s OB issue or connectivity issue

anything like that happening to me I blame the usb path first of all, cable, hub, port, but assuming you’ve tried alternatives for each then could be software or maybe rytm acting up, so maybe reinstalling OB or even a factory reset of the rytm could help here

EDIT: ah, I’ve just checked out and my OB version actually 2.7.1 not 2.7.9, not sure if that’s related, did you update recently?

If USB ports stop working it could be a short. Are your ports clean and undamaged?

Are your power outlets grounded and is your Mac on the same group as the Rytm?

I’d also check if you’re using the original USB cable or at least a good USB 2 compatible one. I’ve experienced audio dropouts on my Heat by accidentally using a USB 1 cable.

Many thanks for your thoughts. After trying a couple of cables before posting, I got a new one just to be sure that wasn’t the issues, and thankfully that seems to have helped with most of the f*ckery, but it is still a bit buggy.

Mac is on a different power hub to the Rytm. That could be changed, but was never an issue in the past.

I believe 2.7.9 was a beta FW to fix some other OB issue I was experiencing.

Perhaps I just focus on Rytm being a live performative instrument going forwards!
