Rytm Mk2 - click when using pads 3 and 4 and one is a DVCO

Hey, all -

I think I’ve noticed an issue when alternating between two sounds on pads 3/4 (shared voice) and one is a Dual VCO voice. Seems like in re-calibrating from say, a clap, to a DVCO sound on the same voice there is an audible and rather unpleasant POP heard the first time DVCO plays.

To test this:

  • Load an empty kit and empty pattern
  • Change pad 3 machine to Dual VCO
  • Edit dual VCO sound so pitch is fairly high and only 1 osc is audible
** This is just to make the issue more noticeable but not totally necessary
    ** (Example: TUN +63, BAL -64, CFG 0)
  • Put trigs for Pad 3 on 9 and 13
  • Put trigs for Pad 4 on 1 and 5

Now play back the pattern and you should hear a pronounced CLICK when step 9 plays. If you remove the clap on 1 and 5, the click will still be there (because analog) but not nearly as pronounced.

I reckon this is due to the sound reconfiguring itself and maybe the wave not being at 0 or something, but I think it’s worth reporting as it doesn’t seem to be an issue with other machines.

I have found a work around by placing a trigless trig on the DVCO track just before the offending pop with the AMP VOL p’locked to zero. It must be after the last alternating sound and this obviously may not work in 100% of cases.

I just noticed this very issue was mentioned in the 1.45 bugs thread:
