I haven’t updated from OS 1.31b yet…
I’ve been having problems synchronising pattern changes between the Rytm and other sequencers.
Sending program changes to the Rytm to change patterns results in an unavoidable delay of 1/4 bar from the moment the PC message is sent to the moment the Rytm changes pattern.
This has been mentioned before here and wondering if it will ever be fixed?
This stuff is poorly explained in the manual and I am pulling my hair out (metaphorically) about why Elektron did not copy the Machinedrum’s Map mode …
Why??? If we could use MIDI notes to change patterns the machine would be a lot more usable with other sequencers. Since the Rytm does not have a MIDI sequencer this is essential for working with other gear…
Using the Rytm to send out program changes (so you can use those as triggers for changing scenes in the DAW for example) is the only way to do it without messing around with track delays on the DAW… but program changes are not recognised by Ableton Live and some other gear uses notes or CCs to change patterns.
Song mode does not allow playing part of a pattern so it’s quite inflexible if you want to make more complex arrangements. If I want to play pattern 1 for half a bar on step 1 of the song, then play it for 4 bars on another step, I would need to make a copy of that pattern and change the LEN or CHNG settings… which are also poorly explained. The manual does not even mention that these settings take effect in song mode.
I also don’t get why the display doesn’t follow the song when in Song Edit…
I read that there were issues with pattern changing in OS1.45a and that they were fixed in 1.45b. . . Have any of these issues been actually improved?
