Rytm MK1 pad issues (cowbell ghost triggering)

Hey,
I recently got an Analog Rytm Mk1 second hand and love the machine and don’t see myself getting rid of it regardless, but I’m having issue with the pads.

I know they are notorious for not being great but my issue in particular is that whenever I play a sound on another pad, there is a ~20% chance it will also trigger the cowbell. The chance increases on the pads in close proximity to the cowbell pad. Especially with retrig pressed this makes for a pretty pad playing experience.

The sound is great so if I’m destinied to use the Rytm as a rack machine, then so be it. But does anyone have any solutions? I used to have an Akai a decade+ ago where it was fairly easy to service the pads by adding-removing tape to make them more or less sensitive but not sure if similar hacks work here. Not great with a solder iron btw.

EDIT: seems to be getting worse by the minute now. It’s either completely unresponsive or hyperresponsive (ghost triggering).

Are you using the latest OS?

I had this same issue when I got my rytm mk1 years ago, but I haven’t noticed the neighbor triggering bug for a long time. perhaps it was patched at some point?

Hey,
yeah I did update it and also recalibrate (assuming this just does the oscillators and filter tracking but whatever) as well, but the issue persists so I assume it’s a hardware fault. Still possible it could go away by itself at some point though! Maybe the cowbell trigger has gotten too little use and will mellow out with time.
