I’ve attached a Minibrute to the MIDI THRU port from the RYTM, but no MIDI messages seem to be getting through. I’ve configured the Minibrute to accept input on ALL channels. When I control the Minibrute directly from my DAW, it works on any channel I send to (1-16). However when I connect it to the MIDI THRU of the RYTM (and control the RYTM from my DAW) I hear nothing from the Minibrute. The RYTM plays notes successfully on all its channels, but none go through to the Minibrute.

My MIDI Thru port is configured to output MIDI.

I’ve attempted to disable all twelve RYTM tracks and unassign their MIDI ports, and explicitly assign the Minibrute to listen on one of those channels (e.g. Channel 1), but that hasn’t helped either.

Is there something obvious I’m missing about the MIDI Thru port config? I’ve scoured page 51 of the manual trying to figure this out.

Make sure your AR input is set to MIDI, not USB. Also, to troubleshoot further, can you play the AR from live with MIDI notes? If so, then something is off…

USM midi is not connected to DIN midi
MIdi thru only mirrors that which appears at DIN in

Ah, I didn’t realize MIDI thru only mirrors DIN input. Controlling via DIN input and now it works. Thanks!

Wanted to make sure the MIDI THRU on the Rytm cannot act as 2 MIDI outputs, when the RYTM is the master MIDI clock.

I’m sure my A4 can have both MIDI OUT + THRU acts as 2 MIDI OUTS.

Happy to be correct on this one.

thanks

It shouldn’t so i’d suggest it doesn’t. Are you thinking about the DIN Sync port swapping which allows Thru to be an Out (but categorically not a MIDI one)?

Midi thru only mirrors the data arriving in DIN midi in

Yeah, sorry I got a mix of sync and MIDI gear that I get lost myself! Thanks for quick reply.
