Sometime last year, via one of the OS updates for Rytm - the FX levels were raised in volume to match the levels possible with AK/A4.
A few users, myself included, posted to voice their concern as to how this may affect existing project’s overall volume levels. This resulted in Elektron reverting the FX volume change in the next update.
I actually found the raise in FX level to not compromise my existing projects at all. And since the reversion to the previous level, I’ve actually quite missed the extra volume abilities. The current OS 1.21C seems to have the quietest overall FX level yet. (Or is that just me?)
When compared to the AK, IMO, the FX on the AR really could do with being a bit louder/having more headroom.
Is this something we may see changed in the future, @ Elektron? If not I guess I can look at bringing the track volumes down, although am concerned this will affect the sounds due to the change in gain staging going into the AMP/Drive.
Thanks to any staff, in advance, for any confirmation to confirm either way if this may happen
I’m still using that 1.21RC beta OS that a few people complained about. I love it. I’ve been finding I enjoy the RYTM’s reverb more than the A4’s. Before this OS, I thought the RYTM’s reverb sounded bad. I’ve been using the bit reduction effect on samples a lot; it was definitely not getting enough signal before to actually affect the sound; I hated it before. You should have kept using this OS, and I still think it was foolish for some people to make such a big deal about the needed improvements. I also think it was not a good choice for Elektron to revert the FX to an inferior state, and I think a plan to have some sort of option to keep them in an inferior state would be a waste of energy.

I wish I could’ve stayed with that version of the OS, but needed a non beta version of Overbridge which is only available with 1.21C
I’m hoping the situation improves with future updates

Has anyone contacted Elektron support about this issue recently? Yall know they don’t read these posts…
The FX levels are way too quiet. Seems more of a mistake rather than intentional change. Why bring it down? Previously we had the flexibility to do it ourselves with the level controls.
I agree, RYTM FX too quiet! Don’t care if it messes up all your old kits/the sample packs, we can adjust. I’m slamming my RYTM FX as hard as possible just to hear them at all it seems.

Unfortunately, iOS8 won’t let me even press the button once. Can’t update the OS as it’s an old iPad… (Fine on Mac, hence the current use of quote btw haha)
It was fixed, then un-fixed, the next promised fix will no double keep everyone happy, can’t be long ![/quote]
Ah! Last I heard they were keeping it quiet (pun originally not intended). Hope it’s fixed in the next update.

everyone will be happy; the fix was only pulled because it messed with previous work, the fix has to return (it will) without screwing with your earlier work - the only question is when ? !

I hope you’re right, and I do recall this being elektron’s position stated here around the time of the new release/bitching about having to revise projects.
But…this is elektron - not a company with a track record for great communication - so, are you sure? I know most of us want this, but I personally haven’t heard any communication from the company on this issue for quite some time. I think I’ll submit a ticket to ask and then relay the info here. Unless you already have?

Honestly, I can’t see anyone really wanting to keep the effects the way they are for long after they’ve been improved. Adjusting levels is such a minor inconvenience for superior quality sound. The effects aren’t just louder, they sounds better & fuller. The effects, as understand it, weren’t supposed to sound how they do for you guys. It was a flaw. I don’t understand why so much effort has to be put forth to preserve a flaw. This isn’t a useful or characterful flaw either, it just sounds not as good… like a miscalibrated filter or something.
