Hello there,
I bought a AR mk1 yesterday and even if I know and search about it, I can’t figure out the anwser of my issue…
So, the pads are working well but i cant use them for trigering (like in an mpc) or in chromatic mode. I checked GLOBAL - MIDICONFIG - Port Config - Pad Dest Int + Ext
And it does not change anything…
Do u have any ideas to fix this ?
I recently got a Rytm Mk1 and was having issues in chromatic mode.
Something that helped me:
-Enable fixed velocity to the pads. (Sound settings) You may be triggering the pads, but because the pads are so unresponsive that it’s triggering at a low velocity.
-Check your amp envelopes. The amp envelopes are fussy, and can definitely impact if the sound is triggering at all. (The envelopes function a bit different on the Rytm and took some research to understand).
You might also run test mode to see if there’s any issue with pads or other elements. You’ll find out how it’s done in the manual.
I also don’t know if Rytm maybe has something like local off. I know this from synths, where you can disable the keys on a synth. Maybe worth checking the manual if there’s such an option and then check if it’s enabled.
Update :
I get through all the tests and the pad are not that much sensitive but they all work. I swiched off the velocity and now they are only 1 pad working in chromatic mode and it’s the top right one. I tried to change the scale and the Trig note but it does not change anything… even in step-seq, I cant place a different note, only the CB12 one… it changes the note of this pad when I change the octave but no sound coming out of the others.
and I find a way to make it so I can have any note !
I simply create a trig with the working pad and the tune it to the note I want. Its not to play in direct but its enough for the moment thanks u all for ur help !
Have a great day
This doesn’t sound good though. Have you booted it up in test mode yet?
Another issue might be that you’re trying to play a pitch that isn’t audible or the pads don’t support in chromatic mode. Have you tried it with a synth sound where the root note and pitch are set to init levels? Have you also clarified whether the pads work for drum hits, meaning not chromatic mode? And set the velocity to a fixed value of 100 or above?
its not a pitch issue but I think it’s just a mechanical issue…
Is it okay to open it for repairing it myself or is the AR Mk1 still under support ?
If so I dont want to ruin the support of my device
A friendly and detailed request describing the issue to Elektron via the support page on Elektron.se might do wonders. Best to check with them if any parts/repair options are still available.
I can’t stress enough that there’s a test mode on the Elektrons, which should make it a lot easier for you to find out whether there’s an issue with the pads or not. It will take you a minute to run the test.
