Rytm and Tempest redundant?

So how about you “represent” and show us YOUR skills?
Let me guess …
“I don’t need to prove anything”?
or
“It’s you that needs to prove it”
Well some of us made our sysex available on the DSI forum, for anyone to download free. Anyone can check out our skills.
So where is your sysex, Clunky? Care to share? ;)[/quote]
Trying to turn it around on me doesnt work when you consider I’m not the one making outlandish statements about gear.

See if i were so stupid and arrogant to say the AR is a shit drum machine, i would expect to get challenged in a number of ways
and have to put up or shut up.

I did “put up”. Anyone can download my sysex for free from the DSI forum. Kicks so phat, Chuck Norris calls me for advice.
So where is your sysex Clunky? Why won’t you share?

The only reason anyone is saying you should put up or shut up is because you have made a few confrontational statements attacking the skills of others. So if you can do one better, demonstrate it, or kill your criticisms. It’s pretty simple, Holmes.

I’m NOT the one making outlandish claims about gear in the first place,
those others are and I have every right to call them out in any way I so chose.:alien:

WHAT dont you understand about that?

C’mon clunky! Where is your sysex? We’re waiting …

C´mon people, skimming thru this thread sometimes sort of reminded me of:

as well as of:

…could we everyone please take a step back and question ourself if any further disagreements expressed, actually benefits the OP?

I liked the sounds in those clips provided, no matter what tool were used where. It became music somewhere, which is what´s matter in the end. For whatever reasons: sometimes it´s easy, sometimes it´s an struggle.

To OP:
If you are considering ‘new/more tools’, try to figure out WHAT you need most/least and see if any product out there matches your requirements. If you think any product matches your requirements, ask others about their thoughts and experience in regard to those specific matches. To see if you´ve understood the products correctly from your perspective, and also to see if anyone needed to create workarounds and for what reasons…

Expressing loose thoughts pretty much always draws input of personal opinions, either regarding the tools, or the hands using them and/or the manufacturers creating them. And as such personal opinions are clearly an two-edged sword that can tick off others and backfire in any way possible…

hey all!

first time post here. i seen a topic on the beloved tempest and i thought i’d chime in with my beautiful experience with such a ground breaking machine  i haven’t spent more then a half hour with the AR but it does seem like a very powerful machine. i would love to have one along with my tempest. people trash the tempest all the time but they only use it for maybe a kick or snare. spend some time with only that machine and you’ll realize it’s a sound design beast, and extremely well put together for live functionality. I’ve used only the tempest and a reverb pedal in live sets for over 2 years. if you know how to design drum sounds, the flexibility is amazing. in my project TWIN BRAIDS, Joy Through Noise and i use 2 tempests and a reverb pedal.

That’s great work. If I’d wanted to do that with the Tempest, it would have been the greatest thing to happen for me in a long time.

But ultimately, I wanted a drum machine, and it never quite cut it.

I’ve had the Tempest for about a year, and the Rytm for about as long as it’s been out.

For me, it comes down to voice. Not workflow, polyphony, samples or engine. Both machines sound great. You can do spectacular things on them. They’re easy to work with. Every single one on this forum can write great music on these machines.

It comes down to what kind of music you’d want to make, and the voice of that music. And since most of us still search for our voice, what we want to sound like, we direct our attention to slamming or praising gear, cause that’s easier until we’ve figured out what we really want.

For me, the Tempest has a very intimate sound, a warm and raw tone, like gathering around a fire when twilight kicks in. It can both scream and whisper, and it’s rough around the edges. I can imagine that early Daft Punk demos sounded something like the stuff that comes out of the Tempest.

The Rytm is lush and grand, something that can make an entire arena sway. It can take you higher, and if the Tempest is about autumn leaves, then the Rytm is like those Swedish Summer Burst nights when the sun never really sets.

And yes, this is all a bit poetic, but that’s also the point. That’s a voice too. And these instruments sound so different, and they’re really great, so it really comes down to what you want to sound like, not what these instruments can or can’t do.

i dont have atempest but i love the MDUW- and I prefer it over the RYTM.

This is just me tho’ .

Cheers dude, i like your poetry.
much of its comes down to taste and style, and what you’re in the mood to fcuk with.

Thanks. It always does, doesn’t it? But it’s easier to spend time on nags and brags, since making great music is hard. And we tend to avoid hard things. You can make great music on both the Rytm and the Tempest, tho.

I’m convinced. I will have to get one soon.
Great finger drumming on the live vid.

Baseck!!!
I love your work. I messaged you a couple days ago on FB to find a video I wanted to post to this specific thread (and I don’t think the PT. 2 at The Complex was the one, but whatevs…the one I remember was a straight on video (shot like PT.1 with a comment about changing styles) that was more Aphex-y), but what I’ve seen you do with the Tempest tells me plenty about the potential it has.
Been a fan since I heard the stuff you put out on Subcon…glad to see you around these parts.
/fanboy off.

@accent

Thanks! Oh and maybe this is the one you’re talking about?

The video was edited to only show the design of the synth sound, the drum part got cut

A good friend goes on tour soon, so maybe I can borrow the RYTM!

If you have an Octatrack, a Nord Drum 2 is a little monster with a HUGE sound !

I like your stuff aswell Baseck, very unique and it shows how the Tempest is intended to use, as an analog syntesis laboratory AND performance instrument.

Just discovered your soundcloud page, i hear plenty of tempest… if those drums are not punchy etc. i dont know what people demand…

CRE8 CELEBR8 blows me away atm, total tempest distruction, what a track o0 .

I´ve made a video too to proof the strength of Tempest! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :joy:
Octatrack included

Greez…

PS: Sorry for my head bouncing in all the time.

Nice vids guys. Now I really want one.
