Thanks. It always does, doesn’t it? But it’s easier to spend time on nags and brags, since making great music is hard. And we tend to avoid hard things. You can make great music on both the Rytm and the Tempest, tho.

first time post here. i seen a topic on the beloved tempest and i thought i’d chime in with my beautiful experience with such a ground breaking machine i haven’t spent more then a half hour with the AR but it does seem like a very powerful machine. i would love to have one along with my tempest. people trash the tempest all the time but they only use it for maybe a kick or snare. spend some time with only that machine and you’ll realize it’s a sound design beast, and extremely well put together for live functionality. I’ve used only the tempest and a reverb pedal in live sets for over 2 years. if you know how to design drum sounds, the flexibility is amazing. in my project TWIN BRAIDS, Joy Through Noise and i use 2 tempests and a reverb pedal.

I love your work. I messaged you a couple days ago on FB to find a video I wanted to post to this specific thread (and I don’t think the PT. 2 at The Complex was the one, but whatevs…the one I remember was a straight on video (shot like PT.1 with a comment about changing styles) that was more Aphex-y), but what I’ve seen you do with the Tempest tells me plenty about the potential it has.
Been a fan since I heard the stuff you put out on Subcon…glad to see you around these parts.

I like your stuff aswell Baseck, very unique and it shows how the Tempest is intended to use, as an analog syntesis laboratory AND performance instrument.

Just discovered your soundcloud page, i hear plenty of tempest… if those drums are not punchy etc. i dont know what people demand…

Good shit bro. Tempest most definitely not redundant. Just different. The octatrack was already on my wish list, and now I think I will grab a tempest at some point. The possibilities of the AR+Tempest+octatrack are mind boggling. I love my AR already, and still have much to learn.

Having read this entire forum (!), it seems both Rytm and Tempest are very powerful. Since buying one of the first Sidstations, Elektron always interested me. Not so far covered in this forum are the nature of the sequencer in these machines. Comparing them to the Roland MC-505, which is familiar to me, neither seems to have 96 ticks/quarter note MIDI resolution. Both seem to have some variation on a fixed note value, such as quaver, semiquaver or triplet variations (i.e. from 48 ticks down to 12 ticks). In “MC-505 speak”, you can’t nudge a beat back or forward by a single tick. If so, it’s a bit of a retrograde design, when more ancient drum boxes with less powerful processors do this. Have got my head round Parameter Locks, which seem similar to Korg and Roland’s motion sequencer idea, that puts multiple or single CC messages in a MIDI track, or the alternative of mapping multiple edited variations of the same sample to adjacent MIDI note #. Is this correct, please?

Those pads on the Rytm? Isn’t it possible to make some beats and check what the range/ dymanics are? That will give a definitive answer - say velocity from 30 to 88 - or whatever. Just a suggestion, to end an argument…

It will be great to take a look at this fantastic new gear and decide which to get, to add new things, not duplicating what existing gear does. Really enjoyed this forum and thanks

Well after a lot if yes and no going through my head I finally pulled the trigger… I literally wish I could lick my self in a room for a year and just play with these 2 together. I haven’t hooked them both up together yet but tonight I wiill. Look forward to having them both run into Octatrack… The Tempest is really deep.

voice cycling on the Tempest. One of the many gripes the users have with it. And something that some people conveniently ignore.

The voice allocation never bothered me about Tempest.
Seeing that you can assign pads to voices ensuring them, then using the mains as kind of a free for all for the cycling.
I like the way that worked.
