Rytm 2 CV Input

Hi folks,
how do you assign thecv input to other destainations than the BD?
In my rytm its the only instrument to assign the inputs. The manual says its poosible with every instruments, even the fx.

Any idea?
Thankx in advance!

I know this is a bit of an old post, but I’m wondering what folks are using the CV inputs for. I’m trying to better understand how it is beneficial over controlling parameters via midi. Can anyone share the advantages of using a CV in in conjuction with midi when sequencing the analog rytm from external gear which has both cv and midi out?

CV is always going to modulate whatever you target its modulators to (per kit, if I’m not mistaken). So, for me - it’s just another facet of interacting with the instrument - (one approach that does not require learning and mapping according to MIDI implementation).

CV allows me to integrate with modular. I can take audio from a RYTM track out to a module in Eurorack and extract pitch or amplitude information, then take the output from that module and patch it into RYTM CV input, using it to modulate a parameter on a different track. I use MIDI as well on occasion, but it’s just a different workflow/experience. My two cents anyway.

People complain about RYTM’s poor tuning when playing melodic stuff, but it could perhaps be more accurate with careful use of CV to control pitch, to offer you another example. I guess that it would shine the most in a hybrid type of set up anyway.

Very helpful, thank you! So you could potentially play the VCO using cv, while triggering it’s gate/envelope using the internal sequencer?

yes, or maybe play its filter melodically using CV while using the internal sequencer to control the synth voice pitch? I’ve never tried that, but it seems interesting! You know, turn the res up and get it self-resonating a bit? granted you can already do that using the internal sequencer, but it might be interesting to play it with CV as well.

Or like how people have complained that RYTM is rather limited with 1 LFO per track… well, CV. Sure, it only gives you two more LFOā€˜s (or whatever), but they can be assigned to nearly anything. You can choose to use them to control the master FX for example.

Oh wow, I didn’t know there was only 1 LFO per track, at least you have p-lock slide to help with movement and dynamics. Have a used rytm mkii on the way after several years of waffling about it, pretty stoked to see what it can do. There also seems to be many missing ā€œobviousā€ features, but an update seems imminent for it at this point, if only to add led brightness control.

Lets hope they add a bit more than that… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I haven’t got any modular than generates CV signals, but I have been using the empty cv ports to allow fine tuning the oscillators down to 432hz.

An Elektronauts member posted a video for the technique here on the forum, probably in the Rytm section.
