Only applies to master out put, right?…. So, I can route drums individually to a mixer like the BASTLE bestie and then back into the 8s to hit that soft clipper….

FYI the filter insert FX have clippers too. The clippers are crucial for getting the punchiest sounds from the TR-8S/6S imo.

Ah yeah? I only ever use the saturator / EQ insert. Which of course clips.
There’s a big difference between having distortion/saturation/clipping as an effect per track, and having the entire Mix hit a compressor then a soft clipper.
Yeah of course, I was just referring to the fact that I never used the filter insert fx only the saturator so I didn’t know the filter fx clipper.
I have to say that I find the compressor master effect, to be hard to dial in on the TR. it’s hard to describe, but I just can’t seem to get it to sound “musical” like other compressors do.
Lately I’ve been using the Vinyl Sim effect instead, at relatively low compression setting, and I find that it just ‘breathes and pumps’ a lot better than I can get to compressor to do.
I only wish there was an attack setting (or a HPF setting) to be able to avoid changing the sound of the kick too much

Looks like they provided the tools to do everything in the box without the need for any external processing. Obviously they can’t ship the tr8s with presets sounding anything other than clean to show off the sound quality.

Yes they did. One of many reasons why this drum machine kicks hard.

This is a longshot, but does anyone have a way to contact the person who made this: TR-8Skreamer?
The only contact I can see there is a Facebook page, which I don’t use. The standalone app that comes with this doesn’t seem to work on my M1 Mac and I was hoping to see if they were aware and if they had any plans to update it.
The M4L version still seems to be working fine, but it would be nice to have the standalone option and not have to go through Live.

Btw, I tried sending program changes from my Hapax to my TR-8S with the newest firmware version and it didn’t lose sync anymore!
I think I set the latency compensation inside my Hapax to 1 ms, which might have been the trick, but not sure… will do some more testing soon!

Has anyone found success externally controlling tr8s’s settings that are under the hood?
I LOVE my faderfox ec4 directly controlling various settings that aren’t on the surface of alot of my hardware. Looking at tr8s midi implementation chart, looks like that doesn’t exist…sigh. Curious to know if anyone here has found a way?
