Do you think Roland will follow up with a TB-3003….?
Sort of SH-101/303 analog hybrid thingy with some banging fx ![]()
I’d buy it.

I’d buy it.
I want an MC707 but built like this. It will never happen alas.
An Analogue Mono along side some abc engines or the wavetable one would be good.
However Roland have so many products out that cover that in Zencore , I think it’s unlikely.
A modern MC202 would be amazing.
The ana filter on the Tr1k sounds great so maybe they can do a box with that.
Either that or an ACB modelled Concertina with tape delay with wooden spoon accompaniment.
If we all bang on about it for 40 years we might get one in time for my dementia.
The Roland product development HQ must be an interesting place to be at the moment.! The success of the TR-1000 makes it clear that they have the heritage to make new analog gear and sell loads of it at top-whack premium prices. Weirdly, this seems to have surprised Roland!? But now they have had some time to adjust, they must surely be busy developing other products in the same spirit?
Or maybe they are just working out how to make OS 1.22 ![]()
I reckon the synth sibling of the TR-1000, tapping into 80s synth nostalgia and Roland’s dance music pedigree, could be based on the ACB capabilities of the System-8 plus real analog circuitry of the 303, 101 and maybe one or more Juno’s. An interface optimized for tweaking and live performance without too much menu diving and similar style and presence as the 1000, premium feel with grey and black looks. Maybe include FX circuitry of some legendary Boss pedals as well. That would probably sell well at the TR-1000 prize point, enough people are willing to pay a lot more if it’s ‘true analog’ even if you can’t tell the difference with ACB or Zencore. Maybe two versions, as some will prefer a keyboard, others a desktop. Would love a rack version myself but nobody does rack synths anymore unfortunately.
And as a follow up they could also release a best of 90s-00s box, although the Integra-7 already covers a lot of that and I don’t think that was a best seller. And then a greatest hits sampler. And then another 3000 bucks sequencer / controller / meta machine to tie it all together.
Sounds crazy but in the DJ world a ‘club standard’ setup consists of 3 - 5 devices (CDJs and mixer) that cost 3K each.
If they released an analog reissue of the TB-303 it would sell like hotcakes.
When it sold out globally in something like 2hrs they must have been kicking themselves
.
“Ah shit, they (the customers) did actually want this and weren’t just bitching for the sake of it”.
I’d love a new 303 thingy.
But what would really bring me to climax is a System 100 remake. I use the cloud plug in all the time.
Especially if they managed to supersede the Avalon Bass line while ensuring it’s still a 303
Easy, put a new manager on the project and update the number to 1.55. I accept fees for my consulting via paypal.
Great idea for both a model number and a pricepoint.
Now now , you need to come back down to earth.
Hell I’d even take an acb version scaled down , as long as it had all the patch points available.
I almost bought the system 1m again the other day , but remembered how tiny the knobs we’re, and that the sys 100 on it didn’t reveal the whole plug out.
I went down that road but it wasn’t the panacea I’d hoped for. Sold it on really quickly.
If they give it the TR-1000 treatment, then yes (metal housing, great sounding analog distortion and digital fx on top, extended synth engine parameter ranges and maybe even a hybrid 101/303 engine would be very popular I think indeed)
Just got one. Has anyone worked out the fundamental pitch/s of the analog gens? I know everyone is calling for this buy god it would be great if they put a gen note for every synth model not just the fm. Interested to see how folks tune their kicks to external gear, or tune internal analog/synth models to the same fundamental?
I usually tune by ear.
Ok got my tr back today, new mobo and buttons.
Seems fixed , but this is really bizarre , and I’d definitely like some feedback of your experiences please.
So I start fresh , make a backup , takes the usual 15 mins or whatever to complete , I’ve added no samples it’s just backing up factory patterns and my global settings.
Loading it back up takes even longer , nothing new there. It’s mind blowing to me why it takes so long.
Now here’s the strange bit , an old back up of mine is why I had it repaired as it would take ages to write samples , at least it would take a couple of minutes. It was specific to that backup.
Now when I load that backup , it loads it in seconds , yes a whole back up in like 5 seconds , what’s more it all loads correctly.
So it is possible for this machine to be fast , it just isn’t.
Unless…
Are all your full backups taking like 10-15 minutes to load ?
Love to hear back because nobody seems to answer this question ?
Edit: I’m doing some more testing , but the only thing that has changed is the iPad copy has added Appledouble data file I.E. .-backup. So it’s added a dot and an underscore.
I did a factory reset before loading the backup that loads in 5 seconds to check it wasn’t grabbing preloaded data. It’s such a weird anomaly?
Edit 2: Must have been grabbing data from somewhere as I just double checked. The Appledouble data file doesn’t show when I load the card on my iPad , but on the TR it does , must be a hidden file.
Worst news is I located the original bad backup that I sent it in repair for and it hasn’t fixed the sample write time , which indicates to me , it is actual bug that people will experience at some point where samples start taking ages to write to memory after recording.
For it not to work with a new motherboard rules out hardware , so I’m calling it a bug ![]()
Weird how none of you guys have experienced it ? You not recording many samples ?
Just to clarify the bug is , instead of taking a few seconds to write , it takes 30 seconds to a minute even short samples , the cog freezes also during write.
A lot of words there. What’s the bug?
Read the very last paragraph
thanks for the tip, checked out the site, but can you only follow this ‘live’ on the selected date/time? can’t rewatch it whenever my schedule allows for it? @Gigagar
