Love everything about this. Sounds like the 404 is really letting you lean into those triphop vibes you often channel.
Except turns out I miss the triple āclack clack clackā at the end!

Thanks a lot @jemmons and @PlumWrinkles! I still get confused about how some button combos only work in specific screens (why does bus mute disable all other performance features like pad mutes and FX tweaking on the other bus??).
I was pleasantly surprised at how natural it felt to move samples between bus 1 and 2. Sometimes I wanted to apply FX to everything but the lead guitar samples, and I could do that by moving all the other melodic samples to the same bus as the drums temporarily.
Iām also still figuring out which FX I want to put on the dedicated FX buttons. Swapped out filter+drive with scatter and resonator with reverb, but I like the filter+drive FX so I think Iām gonna put it back.
Maybe Iāll sample a triple-stop and play that at the end of my tracks, hehe.

I always found it strange that Reverb wasnāt one of the default options, and I donāt think Iāve ever actually been able to make good use of the resonator 
All part of the quirky personality of the 404 
At first I also missed not having the vinyl SIM on there, but TBF that makes so much more sense on bus 3 or 4 so I learnt to forgive it.

Reverb on drums followed by bus mute is such a fun and simple performance trick. Since I like running the two buses in parallel, I have to get used to not having both delay and reverb at the same time on one sample.
Do you like the 303 or 404 vinyl sim best? I love what the 303 does to kicks, but the 404 adds this subtle half-rectify effect that I love on softer sounds. My go-to bus 3/4 combo is EQ into compressor though, makes things sound āāāmasteredāāā the way I like to do it to my Elektron tracks in post

I tend to use the 303 sim on the master as I like the character of it. The 404 is really useful as a performance effect for doing wow/flutter.
They both sound good though

I just wanted to say as a long time SP user, it is really cool to see you rocking one these days, when i first got my digitakt 1 forever ago your videos were priceless for inspiration on doing sp style works on the Digitakt!

Thatās so cool to hear, man! I haventā done any new tutorial videos in years, I feel like I wouldnāt be adding anything new that isnāt already covered. Also the longer Iāve used my gear, the more I realize I donāt know about them. Iām less confident in making tutorials now than back when I was still pretty new to them

I once heard a quote from a professional guitarist that went something like āthe better you get the less you think for your own abilitiesā. You get good enough to know in what ways youāre not good, ya know. But alsoā¦ you lose the ability to see how good you are.

Iāve moved on from the 404, but one thing I really loved about it was the ability to plug a guitar straight into it and play, and have access to all the effects. No amps, DI boxes, pedals needed. I hadnāt picked up a guitar in 15 years, yet the ease of use with the 404 got me back into it.
The MK2 is a modern-day legend because it is useful to so many different people, in so many different situations.

That is not too far off from how I use itā¦ I use it mostly as a utility box to capture samples from either a mic, guitar, external synth, etc. Sometimes, folks will bring something up that reminds me āoh, heck yeah, I forgot you can do that as well! It also has solid set of effects that are useful for shaping whatever I want to send further along the signal path.

Still trying to get used to the whole destructive resampling thing, but Iām too timid to commit to it. I like the idea of limiting myself to 1 bank per track because I donāt like switching banks when working on a track.
At one point I tried resampling the drum pattern into a drum loop to free up 5 pads, but I worried Iād want to mute, say, just the kicks, so I didnāt delete the samples. I never did though, so I couldāve just deleted the one shots after all =P.
Skipback sampling just the external inputs (with guitar Sim) has been really fun! Letting the pattern play while jamming on top of that, then using skipback when I played something cool has been working really well for me. I wish there was a way to record only the inputs, but with the bus FX, without recording the pattern though.

Even though youāve got things youāre wishing for, itās not having much of a negative impact on the output; this sounds great.
Thatās just 2 patterns, right?
I really dig how youāre using the Busās, Iām going to dig into that more myself after seeing this.
What youāre getting is great, Iād say embrace the destructive side and see where it takes you.

Thanks a lot man! Yeah itās just 2 patterns, but all the samples used are in the same bank.
The weak sequencer (compared to Elektron) isnāt as much of a problem when recording whole guitar parts, but it along with only 16 samples per bank makes it hard to add little details like reverse cymbal at the end of a pattern or an alternate beat in the background. Unless I resample destructively to free up pads.
Iām gonna give destructive resampling a try!

you can backup your bank on another project slot that you can easily call back if needed
Make 2 or 3 variant of the resampled beat with fills, still free up a couple of slots ā¦
