Anyone using this with Koala: can you use a midi monitor app to see what messages the 404 is sending out when switching banks, and anything else not usually supported by Koala over MIDI? I’d like to be able to use a controller to do the same thing.
The looper gives me weird noises on top of what I’m recording. Like when there was the weird glitch in the tail of the samples. Sounds like a bitcrush. Weird.
Also, is it possible to set a count-in before the first run of the looper?
yeah, enable the metronome!
Yeah, but I can’t for the life of me set a damn count-in starting from when I push “rec”.
Regarding the weird noise, I think it was the looper switching to overdub after the first pass and feedbacking itself to death. Shit is fiddly.
you cant change the count in settings when in the looper menu, exit the looper menu and use SHIFT + 10 for count in settings
Had the same 4 crashes. I made the update from a 32Gb too.
I have had 2 bugs. When switching 2 patterns the FX Bus turned off and after a backup the unit made no more sound while I could see the pattern playing. A power cycle made both things work again, But now I want to return to the previous version.
I still have that, can I just do that? Or will going back screw with it?
EDIT: I sent a support request to Roland about it.
Hope they fix it soon. I normally don’t update so soon, but broke my own habit here.
EDIT: I used a 32GB SD and did the factory reset after the firmware update.
i hear you, they gonna do a fix for this update, unfortunately for the 4.04 firmware
Seems like there are a lot of crashes going around? My 404 just crashed when using the new djfx delay effect.
Hell yeah! That’s exactly the workflow I was hoping for and stoked that I already bought that foot switch. I’m realizing that I need to buy one of these mini midi cables though.
Interesting use of Koala there to use the iPhone mic as well.
I’m loving how the SP has morphed!
Check out that Boss one. It’s pretty cool. You can use it wirelessly to record with things like your DAW or the Katana GO, plus you can connect additional foot switches and an expression pedal to it as well.
Edit: Doh, I see you already did. I haven’t used it with SP yet as I need to order one of those mini midi cables, but it works great with the Katana GO. I’ll be interested to see what the possibilities for the SP are when also adding in the external foot switch on the back of the FS-1 WL and if the expression pedal can be used for anything. To date, I haven’t done much with midi on the SP, so it’s all uncharted territory for me.
I’m pretty sure it’s just a 1/8th trs cable. Like an aux cable but I could be wrong.
Just trying out Microscope in TR Rec mode. It’s cool, but doesn’t seem like you can adjust timing/nudge negative/before the beat.
Fixed bar recording though. Chef’s kiss!
Ooooooh shit, and this LOOOOOPPPPPPPPEEEEERRRR!!
Clearly a good day! I just ran out of likes!
I’m very stoked for this update, with a cheat sheet the sp404 is just perfect.
now for my annoying never satisfied customer question,
can the looper sync to incoming midi clock?
Seems to running with Ableton Live yeah
Could be. I didn’t have a long cable like that so ordered the Boss one they recommend for the SP and that foot switch. It was actually pretty cheap on Amazon and will be delivered today. I’m working in the office today so it might be there by the time I get home. Sweet.
I bet those foot switches will be in short supply with the 404 update and the Katana GO just released.
I have the feeling that crashes occured when using MFX during resamples.
Yooooo, my tired ears might be deceiving me but I think they might have tweaked the Filter+Drive FX to make it closer to the SX version. I was finding resonance and drive horrible before but it sounds nicer with the update. Anyone else notice this?
I must be dumb: tried all the settings, but still a fail. :I
